Another indication that Usyk will make a fine heavy.

Breidis is, to remind everyone, is a guy who starched the curent WBA "regular" heavyweight champ, whatever that is. So this fight said a lot about his ability to compete at heavy.

Also, famously, he was able to handle the power of Medzhidov in a pro style match.

He has the chin to move up, period

Nor was it really as competetive as all of that. He picked off a off a lot of those punches. Take a look at the punch stats- he controlled the fight with his jab, which is what boxers do. Breidis' best offense was an accdidental butt. It was not a draw or in draw territory.

Usyk is going to win this tournament and the move up. The haters can deal. He will beat Wilder or Parker tomorrow. I would have him spend a year or so gaining good weight and getting used to the weight before taking on Joshua.

Usyk is feel, an don't forget it!

    Personally, i thought the opposite.

He was caught, and backed up, too easily for me.

I get a kick out of all these “But Usyk backed up after being hit tonight! Heavyweights will hurt him!”

MB is one of the best in the world and also is a serious puncher. And he wasn’t even close to dropping or stopping Usyk. Oleksandr beat him clearly while demonstrating a gas tank that Joshua and a few other heavies wished they had.

He’ll be more than ok at heavyweight.

I saw Usyk beat the hell out of 6 foot 6 inch Joyce, who was not only taller than Usyk, he was much heavier than Usyk!!!

Usyk's already a smallish heavyweight now, as are most top cruiserweights. There's only around 5lbs weight difference between him and Wilder, for instance, and his skills are miles better than anyone in the top ten. The only limiting factor is when he starts to fight guys like Joshua, who have skills and enormous size, weight and strength advantages over him. That's when he'd need to rely on more than just his skillset.

if Usyk doesn't move up, Breidis should. he already beat Charr. would easily dispose of Chisora and Whyte too.

I doubt Usyk beats any of the top heavyweights.

He did show a very good chin last night. I was worried early on as he was taking a lot of leather but it became clear as the fight went on Briedis' power wasn't bothering him.

Usyk took a combo at the end of the 9th I think, that reminded me of the combo that KO'd Charr cold and Usyk barely flinched.

But we have to see him at heavyweight before we can say he has a granite chin at heavyweight.

Whilst I agree that he will be a good Heavyweight I think your reasoning is a bit flawed

So what if Briedis did anything to a heavyweight? Briedis beating Charr means absolutely nothing because styles make fights. Briedis is known as a huge puncher whereas Usyk is known as a boxer

You can’t just assume Usyk does well because he beat someone who beat a heavyweight because it doesn’t work like that

Usyk will make a good HW but whilst guys like AJ or Wilder are their powerful, fast, strong HW he will come up short of being the top man. I would pick Usyk against Parker but once AJ gets that WBO belt, not sure how Usyk will be able to win a belt.

Any top of the top 5 heavyweights would've dropped Briedis and Usyk IMO. Parker, Joshua, Wilder, Ortiz and Povetkin have dropped guys a lot taller and heavier than Briedis and Usyk. Parker and Joshua are younger than Usyk and are natural heavyweights.

He could go for the WBA's mickey mouse belt, he'd beat Charr with ease in my opinion or Oquendo if Oquendo does actually fight and beat Charr. Then try and get the WBA to force a mandatory shot, that way he gets a guaranteed 25% of the split which would be a very nice payday for him.

Also if Joshua does unify all the belts, I doubt he keeps them all for long one of the sanctioning bodies will strip him for not fighting a weak mandatory as Joshua chooses a better opponent.

Usyk needs to use his footwork better and tighten up his defense, that was his biggest flaw against Briedis. People here acting like Joshua is really good, the dude has struggled against some bum opposition. H2H Briedis might be better than anyone Joshua has faced thus far. Wladimir was shot.
