I recently posted a thread on what your guys favourite action fighters of the 80s were. There was lots of good responses. What are your favourite action fighters who competed between 70 and 80?

I have seen a bunch of great Ruben Olivares fights in the 70s. Plus Roberto Duran brought a lot of excitement in his lightweight run, from his win over Buchanen, to his trilogy with De Jesus and his knockout over Thompson. Also a big Jerry Quarry fan.

Ruben Olivares, Danny Lopez, Roberto Duran, Joe Frazier, Bad Bennie Briscoe, Alfonso Zamora and Ernie Shavers were all extremely entertaining fighters to watch as a rule.

Rudkin was a very unlucky fighter in my opinion. He gave Lionel Rose all he could handle in their Oz fight.

I thought you might dig this link mate

Lost title shots to Fighting Harada, Lionel Rose, and Ruben Oliveras, 3 of the best 118 lb-ers, in the era of only 2 legit "World Champs".

Well, you can't go long without mentioning the legendary Ruben Olivares, in my opinion one of the greatest fighters still alive and with us at the moment. Just follow his career and you'll more or less see the width of breadth of a multiple talent rich divisions over the course of a decade plus, an era full of lower weight class greatness in boxing.

Some of the name's you'll get if you comb through the great Olivares' record.

    Lionel Rose
    Chucho Castillo
    Alan Rudkin
    Rafael Hererra
    Jesus Pimentel
    Art Hafey
    David Kotey
    Bobby Chacon
    Alexis Arguello
    Jose Luis Ramirez
    Eusebio Pedroza
