Those are Dawson fans mentioning it. Just lets you know how badly feared Calzaghe is; not at all.

Aren't you embarrased to love a fighter who nobody is scared of? Dawson's got an egg chin and his fans are betting the whirling slapper can't crack it. LOL.

Why would people be scared off him? Admittedly he's a terrible puncher, no power because of his brittle hands which means he can't sit down on his punchers, and his technique frankly is awful.

The fact is though he's a canny operator, solid defense, decent chin, fantastic speed and agility and really knows how to box. Calzaghe UD Dawson.

Calzaghe had some pretty good pop before he hurt his hands. it amazes how you have a fighter who was 39-0 with 31 KO's and you eliminate his solid KO power and he seemingly has become a better fighter. Joe can still stun and hurt fighters but the days of early KO's are over.

Calzaghe is very overrated on this site and the Hopkins match proved that. Calzaghe just barely beat Hopkins in a close slpit decision, which says to me, if the fight took place 3 or 4 years ago, Hopkins would of beat him in a competitive fight.

The Pavlik/Calzaghe fight will be interesting, but I will have to favor the puncher in Pavlik.

Name one fighter he had a KO over, that was any good, he never knocked out an A or B class oppenent in his whole career. Even light punching Chris Bryd could knckout C and D class oppenents if thats basically all he fought throughout his career.

there's a big difference between a fighter who is marketable on a world level and wiling to take on all comers and one who has his opponents picked for him.

    wins dont matter.
    KO ratio doesn't matter.

what amazes me is people who fail to read between the lines and, in the fickle world of boxing, fail to put a fighter's career into perspective.

calzaghe's a very good fighter - but he's a very good fighter who never wanted to find out how good he was.

that's why ricky hatton left warren and got a career-defining fight against floyd while calzaghe had to wait until he was 35 before fighting an over the hill hopkins.

but hey...i had "pretty good pop before i hurt my hands too"..

question is...who was i fighting before i had these problems?

Good post Punisher :good I understand where you are coming from. Joe's competiton is no doubt questionable. his best KO win is over Mario Veit in 1 round. that being said, Joe did have good pop. not elite power or very good power, but still quality power that got the respect of his opponents.

funny you brought up Byrd, whom Calzaghe did beat as an amatuer, but thats neither he nor there.

Fair enough DaHead, sorry if I came off too confrontational, I just feel nearly anyone could knockout guys weaker than them and less skilled, but the really great punchers know how to take out the best the division has to offer, Calzaghe was never able to do this, even when his hands werent so brittle when he fought an aging Eubank.

Calzaghe is a great boxer, just limmited when it comes to the power IMO, especially now.

I'm sick of U.K posters talking **** to Americans. Ricky Hatton; brought his ass over here and got knocked out. Clinton Woods; brought his ass over here and got worked. Junior Witter; took on little known Timothy Bradley and took an "L". Gary Lockett brought his sorry ass over here and got strached. The only U.K fighter who's had success against an American lately it seems is Calzaghe, and he barely eeked out a decision against a 43 year old man. Face it, U.K fighters can't hold a candle to their U.S counterparts. Pavlik is not an old man and throws more than 20 punches a round. Calzaghe would have his hands full with Pavlik. It's for this reason that he's trying to fight another geriatric.
