Venue announcement is just utterly ridiculous. What next? Referee announcement? Frank is so out of touch it's unbelievable.
NahDen Will they be selling Pukka pies or hollands? When will Frank let us know, was really looking forward to the announcement, what a let down.
Tbf to frank this is a big announcement from him. Hes putting big shows again, whod of thought this time last year, frank would be putting on stadium shows. Hes buzzin about this and this is his way of announcing to the world and in particular MR. Franks back baby!
Nicola Adams obviously on the undercard you would Think, must need to be a stacked card? Any guesses for ticket sales?
There's not a chance Frank will match that. Brook-Spence was a mega fight and had Groves world title fight on the undercard. Frank is relying purely on Leeds football fans to sell this out.
You know he would have to fight Povetkin to keep it, right?! 4 of the Ring top5 are fighting eachother (#1 Joshua vs #3 Parker/#2 Wilder vs #5 Ortiz), and #4 Povetkin is the only top ranked contender that would qualify. It also means that that fight would probably take place in Russia or they would have to pay Povetkin a shirtload of money to meet Fury in the UK.
An announcement for a venue is small time. He should of waited on announcing Warrington v Selby until the venue was confirmed
If it was not for the Leeds United fans this fight would not sell out the Cuppa Box. AS Worry has tuned into the Leeds Utd fans very well, there is every chance that this sells out.
Zzzzzzzz Fwank you are sounding so desperate now making stupid announcements about a venue! This has the makings of a flop if he doesn’t stack the undercard with quality.
Promoted correctly- this could potentially shift 30,000 tickets and send a real statement of intent. A great way to give fighters a run out in a big stadium rather than leisure centre's and York hall. My gut tells me it will be a Micky mouse production, but it's over to you Frank
This is a huge gamble to put these guys in elland road. 2 or 3 years down the line when they have a bigger profile, then yeah. But now? I mean, let's be honest, if you ask the people in leeds who josh warrington is, you might get 5 or 10% of them say 'This guy is a boxer'. The rest won't have a clue. And well, lee selby...you might get 100-200 people coming over to watch him, not much at all. When Kell Brook went to Bramall Lane, the reason that worked out was because of Eddie Hearn. He hypes his fighters up far more than Frank does. And the fact that Kell Brook was better known in Sheffield than Warrington is in Leeds, again that's down to promotion and all those years he spent boxing, improving his fanbase. And when you look at the twitter followers, there's a huge gulf between Warrington and Brook. Brook has almost 10x the followers. Oh, and there's the stadium size. Bramall Lane is smaller than Elland Road.. Elland Road doesn't fill out it's full capacity most of the time in the championship, let alone a boxing match. This is an absolutely massive gamble from Frank, it could all go horribly wrong.
It seems some are desperate to bash Frank at every opportunity. Let's go back to before the announcement of the BT deal - the idea of Frank ever doing another stadium fight would have been Laughed off the forum. We where told be was finished, he's small time etc Infact at the time and before Hearn was still talking about putting Selby - Warrington on at Elland Rd and for whatever reason failed to get it done. Frank's done it and delivered on his promises and he deserves credit. If Frampton beats Donaite and barring any unforceen circumstances he's inline for amother big open air fight at Windsor Pk against the winner. The point I'm trying to make if it's its not clear is that this IS a big announcement for Frank who has battled away on his own small creation on BN to stay afloat, and now that he has big backing he is delivering on fights/events.
