fitz, i'm definitely not a floyd hater. but i would never hug his nuts the way you do. you are blind if you cant see the reality of that quote i mentioned. i think floyd is the best fighter since roy jones. unlike you, i always wanted to see floyd fight the best fighters, not fight for money. you can sit here all you want and claim floyd is the greatest to ever lace them up, but the REALITY is that despite all of his accomplishments, he will leave many stones left unturned. His last 3 titles were no where near as impressive as his 1st three. This welter division is as deep as it's been since the DLH, Tito days. For him just to leave when it is so deep is a terrible decision. I simply believe that he has only touched the surface of greatness, but if he leaves the sport today, he will never swim in it. I'm not a floyd hater. I recognize the talent. You, however may be the biggest nuthugger I've ever seen. It's a shame seeing as how knowledgeable you are of the fight game. Open your eyes man. Do you not think Floyd can become greater?
Exactly! Fitz seems to think people are denying his previous accomplishments. We're not. We're just saying he could have done more, ESPECIALLY if he is to be considered #1 ATG. Being #1 ATG is not based on what you could have done; it's based on what you actually did. Floyd's last 3 titles were against Gatti, Baldomir, & DLH. This definitely doesnt warrant him being #1 all time.
And coupled with a possible Hatton rematch, it's no wonder many of us are mostly apathetic about Floyd's supposed retirement. (I know, the Hatton fight wasn't a certainty, but it was mentioned) He wasn't giving us many reasons to look forward to him fighting again. That said, once Floyd realizes ticker tape parades aren't being thrown in his honour, and he isn't cracking the upper echelons of many P4P of all time lists, he'll likely come back.
What's the big deal, there has to be 20mil in the pot for Cotto. Give Floyd $15mil/ Cotto $5mil each with a ppv % and get the **** on already

He's basically said hes lost his passion for the sport. He will probably take a long break then somewhere down the line the right fight will come along, his passion for the sport will be back and he will fight again. Floyd is one of the greatest fighters in the sport but the guy has been boxing from a young age and its a tiring sport, its bound to get to the point where you just dont want to fight anymore, but after a break, he will be back.
I dont think the guy is retired. I believe that its only a ploy to make a demand for his services. No one was buying the DLH rematch, Cotto and Margo were gaining on him. This allows him the benefit of sitting back without criticism or without taking any challenges and when the dust clears inserting himself in a big money fight of his choosing whenever he wants just like DLH has been doing for years now.
What people are failing to realize here is, Mayweather body is wearing down on him. If u followed his career like I have, u would know that. Especially his hands being fragile. U can only break and fracture your hand so much in boxing before u are done in this sport.
