Eubank is as repellant a human being as you can get without being an actual ****** or murderer, I find him reprehensible, what do you find root worthy about him? Especially over a guy like Groves, who seems like a genuinely nice guy. Although I'm happy you're picking Groves, this should be a league splitter.
I'm going for Super Groves, although I'm not entirely sure how to rate Eubank anymore after his and Saunders' last couple of fights.
You have to know the warriors code is no joke. Why would you think they would ever quit? If Sr was that guy he would have never got up against Watson? I don't need to talk about the GGG situation I have said my thoughts 100s of times now. Groves is one of the bravests and gutsiest blokes in the game. Sure he can hit like a truck but he doesn't have the power to keep Jr down, only AJ and Wilder have that power. Groves is up against a brutal combination puncher with electric speed, that is relentless. Groves won't last the distance.
I'm backing Groves. The bookies opened CEJ as the favorite (-140) and he has been bet to better than a 2 to 1 favorite. The line movement shows that either the sharps or the majority is heavily backing Junior but I think Groves wins in a rough fight.
You're a weirdo Jr doesn't drink or do drugs, he doesn't even swear. He's one of the best role models to kids in the game. He could teach them about work ethic and to know their own worth. The bloke turns all of the negativity pointed at him into postive energy. That is a great ability that not many have and would help many kids with low self-esteem. He's the type of bloke to take photos and sign autographs hours after an event. You realize you are already near the bottom of the pack, picking Groves is just throwing a gimme away.
What exactly makes him that repellant? Personally I can't stand Groves, more so since his antics in the build up to Froch 1. Not sure who to pick in the league though as I think Eubank maybe too small for SMW but I don't rate Groves....
I've never rated Groves that highly, he's a very dangerous but also very flawed fighter and if Eubank Jr can handle his power then I can't see how Groves wins. Groves doesn't control range well, no matter what he says, fighters can always get to him when he stops throwing. His offense is he defence, Groves will need to hurt and make CEJ wary to come in if he is to win. I am rooting for CEJ and expect him to overwhelm Groves in the latter third of the fight and stop Groves.
Agreed neither of them have particularly nice personalities. Groves in the Froch build up was a snarky, little **** bag. He was thoroughly unlikable and even now in interviews he comes off as very condescending.
None of us really know what these guys are like on a personal level. Eubanks appears to me like he's acting out the same persona of his old man. Personality , be it good or bad , is better than no personality at all imo. It isn't reflective of his true character if a guy takes on the role of a villain. Froch knows both guys well and he couldn't stand Groves but seems to have a lot of time for Jr. Saying hat through t, i fully understand why people don't take to Jr. He'll always be a like or hate type of guy.
2g is the antitheses of being my man, him being a loud delusional cokney who thinks hes gods gift, but its him by wipeout.
Styles favour Groves in this clash so it will say a lot about Eubank if he puts a pasting on him. He'll have to produce a good boxing performance and not just attack full on with reckless abandonment.
I have always liked Groves for the most part (Only time Ive rooted against him was against Froch) but over the last year I have to admit Eubank has really grown on me. His social media updates appear on my feeds, and this kid is always, always grinding, and grinding hard. If its a holiday, hes working.... if its his birthday... hes working... the day after a fight... hes working. No fight signed? Working. He might get burnt out a bit at this pace, but as of right now hes in beast mode, pure dedication (seemingly, of course). I am someone that loves work ethic like that. I have watched many interviews with him and I dont really see too much to dislike other than the usual arrogance that often comes with this territory... although I suppose now that I am thinking about it I believe they did do something that I didnt like regarding how they handled the Blackwell situation afterwards, but I cant remember now. Also now that I happen to be thinking about it, did he also release footage of him beating up an overmatched sparring partner? I will have to look into that.... not a fan of that sort of stuff. But I cant even remember right now if that was him (I know Kirkland did something like that, maybe Im confusing it with him... idk) But just from what I see of him on a weekly basis in social media, the work ethic, dedication, the improvements, I usually like where his mind is at, I dont mind his fighting style though I think he has tightening up to do (will come with experience if he doesnt burn out), I like that he was born rich and could be doing plenty of other things but his sights are set on conquering. And not just doing it half ass like many fighters sons (chavez's, camachos, ect) but truly, truly sacrificing for it. And majority of the time I like where his mind is at and what he has to say. I also appreciate that he usually goes out there to rip his opponents apart at some stage in the fight. And, I wont lie. I tend to like the calculated, dark, mean streak, genuine conqueror type mentalities, and Eubank seems to have that.
Absolutely. If Jr takes this then he is without a doubt fully legit and I'll be kicking aside Groves' carcass on my way aboard the Eubank Jr hype train
I hope you are right, I just think that after seeing them next to eachother, CEJ will just be too small. He shouldnt have stepped to super middle, imo. Hope he proves me wrong.
