He kind of invented modern head movement, and was great at it. Of course, Tunney was fantastically evasive as well. Great gif.
Two absolutely great fighters...Dempsey was cat quick, and Tunney looks like a sophisticated modern fighter.
Look this sounds like a real shat thing to say - but he's not throwing anything. It IS pretty, but it's kind of all for very little return given that he's a swarming puncher. I liked seeing the moves and it is nice to see it all giffed up like that, but I was holding my breath waiting for the counter punch and...nothing. Tunney probably happy with this non-exchange tbh.
Now imagine this exact respones if someone decided to show a little clip of Tyson slipping without returning punches. These guys don’t perform the perfect move every time, even though you think it would be great for them to. I get that your expectations weren’t met McGrain. I also think it would be swell if Ali knocked everyone out with one punch. But I won’t give him slack for my unreasonable expectations. At any rate, there are moments in the fight where he counters off slips. If you’d like I can post an example when I have time.
Looks like he got popped clean off the first 3 jabs. In an 8 jab combo , the first 3 will be better delivered than the remaining 5. Tyson would have already pulled the left hook counter initiative on the 3rd jab. Its dipping under a series of push slaps without firing back. Don't understand how its Jack thats getting the kudos here and not Geane.
You saw what I saw, but theirs no point in arguing with his fans about the reality of the clip, because they see what they want to see. The mythology of Dempsey and Johnson.
