If the two were to face off at welter ,would Tommy stop the golden boy ?
Oscar never really faced anyone with Hearn s power at this weight , so would he actually make it through ?

I don't think so. I take Hearns on points but De La Hoya was a superb fighter who had the tools to beat the Hitman, even if I think Hearns would probably win.

I've also got Tommy winning but not a easy win in some ways. Oscar would have come to fight , he wouldn't have rolled over straightaway. Oscar may not have been a ATG but I don't see a miss match.

One sided beating hearns by clean ko in 3 or 4 rounds

Hearns will stop ODLH. Too strong, tall, hard-hitting and skilled for Oscar.

    Hearns, for me.

A stoppage is not out of the question but, I'd bet on it being a wide points decision.

I'm not so sure about stopping him. I can picture ODL going into a shell and playing 90% defense against this guy. He certainly is not going to be trading in there and that Hearns jab and left hook to the body will keep him on the outside.

So I can see an 11 rounds to 1 type fight with Oscar just making it to the finish line but taking zero risks. Especially if he's busted up or swollen like I think Tommy's punches will do to him. A Razor Ruddock throw 15 or 18 punches a round effort & cover up the rest of the time. A stinker bout, if you will.

This is about how I see it. De La Hoya likely survives, but just that.

Not as big a mismatch as people are making out, but Hearns should win.

I don't think it is either. Oscar was never really beaten up and stopped, not until his latter years. But in his prime years even against Hearns I see him putting up a good fight.

I think Oscar goes into survival mode and lasts the distance. But no, DLH doesn't have a realistic chance of beating Hearns. Some people continue to overrate Oscar to this day. The man was simply not in the same league as Hearns, Leonard, and Duran.
