Just a little thought when reading through various posts or opinions on youtube etc majority of posts(forgive me if wrong) seem to be if groves keeps cej at bay with the jab he will win points but if he gets into a brawl trades with cej he win get stopped Is it a myth groves is chinny yes he lost to froch who at time a beast at smw who operated at world level for years against top level opposition 1 dodgy stopppage and the other a tremendous punch. Badou jack coukdnt stop groves. Groves will be bigger man on night everyone says cej is a middleweight not smw.most cej stoppages have been flurry quick punches not heavy handed 1 punch Has cej had take punch of a power puncher not so far so if get into a trade off should groved not be more favourable to hurt cej. As fight comes closer think groves has better jab by far will be bigger man on night is a legimate world title holder has faced better opposition both have great mental strength and confidence while jnr has speed but untested at level and at this weight realistic his best win old aa who although good win very old at time. Leaning towards groves. But think and hope will be a crackimg fight
As regards groves weight....is it possible he is getting too big for 168? It could work against him in a long hard fight.
Got a feeling that's correct lencoreeastside. Think it starting happening from between froch one and froch 2. Started getting too big for the weight. George has never been the same in terms of speed from froch one. He looks to me like hes forcing his work out nowadays. As opposed to how it flowed in the froch one fight and previous fights to that. He also seems to be trying to get fights over quicker nowadays. Hes not messing about in there. Looks like they know he might struggle if they dont get the opponent depleted quickly. Looking at George he doesnt need to do that...he' s got the best jab in the division. Probably the best backhand as well. Can move. Good at making opponents apprehensive to throw etc. Has a very good boxing brain...good at setting traps. Instead of sticking to his attributes. They,ve got him going in their as an accumulation puncher wearing opponents down...to me with the attributes hes got its the wrong tactics for him. Unless they know there is a problem with the weight. Makes me think their could be. Think he's always been a 168 pounder from young. Eventually it does sometimes catch up with you.
My thoughts are that it will be Groves who finishes this fight stronger with more left in the tank. That it will be Eubank who will look desperate and ragged. Eubank does not work for 3 minutes a round, he works in short bursts, has a breather, then does it again. His opponents since BJS have been happy with the breaks themselves. Groves will work him for 3 minutes a round here & Eubank will have his mouth wide open taking big gulps. It suits Groves to keep it as a boxing match, because he is a level above Junior. However, I also don’t think he will be overly concerned when Eubank bum rushes him. He’ll fancy landing some big body shots & tying him up & throwing him round. I fancy him to get the stoppage here, but if it goes the full 12, I expect a 9 maybe 10 round type winning margin with everyone wondering why they thought it would be a 50-50 & how Eubank isn’t a supermiddle. I will say one thing about Junior though. Fair play for taking the fight, knowing he’s out of his depth...and he does know it. I look forward to hearing him & his dad talking about the warrior code and taking the beating like a man etc. Groves win by TKO, round 10.
Groves will not be able to keep a dynamic head mover and insight fighting Dynamo like Eubank Jr at bay just with his jab and reach. This is not a basic plodder like David Lemieux we are talking about here. Tomorrow you will see the levels that Eubank will bring to the table.
Good high tempo ..ie very exhausting... legwork will be essential to cej if he is to drain groves over the first half of the fight. He has to do this to drain groves.
Or he makes it ugly. Get in with flurries then hold on to Groves, trying to drain Groves ... there are all sorts of dirty tricks he could use. I don't think Junior is planning to box groves and rely on his legs. He'll come forward swarm Groves and then literally hang onto him to drain groves' energy and avoid to get hit. The referee is gonna be very busy separating them. Groves is the superior boxer, Junior has the better engine - if I was junior I'd try to make it half flashy (punches in bunches) to impress the judges and half ugly to drain upset and unbalance groves, take the boxing away from him. Just an idea.
A very good idea! As you say he should do all he can to we at groves down. But he needs to be very careful doing it cos groves will be punching very hard, especially gpfor the first 6.
I hope junior goes down from a shot in the solar plexus when he gets too close. We could hear the old granite chin blabla for a bit longer then
