I have a little feeling they wanted Eubank in the final. Him and his Dad bring the theatre don't they. They are a good entertainment package, you can't take that away from them. It's just a shame for them that Jr's actual boxing skill isn't all that. So yeah, I think Kalle wanted Eubank in the final and I wouldn't be surprised if he puts him through in the even that Georges shoulder injury turns out bad
One I think in the second and one in the tenth. The one in the second sees his glove touch the canvas after a blow. Definite knockdown. The tenth saw him get a cuffing shot that sent him very briefly to the floor. Flash knockdowns but knockdowns none the less.
His knee did, I think. Round 7, Jr leaps and Groves evades and lands a left, jr then falls through the ropes. Was he going down anyway? Most likely, but a punch still landed that helped send him further in that direction. Groves actively celebrated that one, which tells me he felt it land. Round 10 is the most nailed on one. Groves counters to the belly and Jr falls to the ground. On another note, waiting for clarity but I've seen someone on Twitter saying the 4th judge in the fight had it scored for Jr! British judging is the absolute pits.
Delusion is infectious I see from some of the posters here, some facts CEJ lost the fight 10-2 in rounds, being generous you could possibly say 9-3 in rounds. Was knocked down twice, neither of which were counted. Was in the ring with a fading fighter, he was expected to wear down and stop down the stretch or at least dominate in the later rounds, and was completely and utterly outclassed. In fact Groves best rounds were 8, 9 and 10 when he had CEJ buzzed and hurt numerous times. A better version of Groves would have put some combinations together when CEJ was frozen. Was so deluded that he thought he won the fight, and none of his corner were telling him any different. Only Senior told him he lost afterwards and told him to watch the fight back. Is right back on the Heavy bag the day after the fight and in the gym working on his 12 pack. So has learnt absolutely nothing about his lack of boxing skill and lack of boxing training. In conclusion, if he ever steps up again it will be the same result. He is too arrogant and pig headed to take any advice and seems to be genuinely suffering from a mental illness, no doubt inherited from his father.
He's a delusional ass and in complete denial. he needs to lie to himself to keep that enormous ego of his intact, but the further removed from the fight, his dad's please son not now, knock if off you lost you little *****, response on The Day After will linger in his mind and he'll start mentally crumbling. He might be weeping himself to sleep already. To clear up any misconceptions Groves rocked him to his core countless times, dropped him twice, one in the 2nd, and once in the 10th, the straight right he landed on him in the 11th had him out on his feet, and quite frankly its debatable if he even won the 12th. My score was 118-110, but it should have been 118-108.
The way I saw it is that after a couple of rounds of Groves dominating, Jnr knew the only way he could get success was slipping the Groves jab and swinging away on the inside. The problem being Groves worked that out as well, so when Eubank backed off waiting for the jab, Groves didn't commit to it, frustrating Eubank into wildly swinging from distance, at which point, Groves just avoided the swing and picked him off. The problem for the judges is some of the rounds, how do you score when one isn't jabbing as much as normal, and the other is missing wildly with swings, giving them the only thing to judge, who was coming forward the most, and who backed up onto the ropes. We all know that when Eubank had Groves on the ropes, it was because Groves let him, knowing he could see what was coming before Jnr had even thrown it. That's the only explanation I can think of for giving Eubank more than 3 rounds.
Whats that got to do with amir khan? Khans only lost 1 fight on decision and it was infact very close. I had it a draw
Indeed - when youre winning every round against a saller overmatched opponent, when youre bigger, stronger, the better boxer AND the harder puncher ......you have to be stopping your man. Groves was almost caught out badly at the end there...if his shoulder had gone in, say the 9th/10th etc etc we would all be singing a different tune today. Eubank shouldnt have gone the distance if Groves was all that great. His doing so has to take some of the shine off Groves - OR put shine on himself.
One thing Eubank Jr and Khan have got in common - I really want to like them both but they make it so damn difficult.
