I guess it's easy to say yes, when there's no definition of what constitutes an ATG.

World Champ in one division, titlist in another. Yep...that's the resume of an ATG!!

Andre has a perfect record. He won the Supper Middleweight Tournament and beat many big name fighters like Froch, Kessler, and Kovalev, but I just don't like his style and his dirty tricks in the ring.

He beat two big name opponents conclusively. That was Froch and Abraham.

He lost to Kovalev in the first encounter and I will give him the rematch even though he resorted to cheating both in and outside the ring.

He headbutted his way to victory against kessler and in any other state outside of Oakland with an impartial ref he'd have been disqualified for the number of intentional blatant headbutts he resorted to.

Besides those names who else has he beat that makes you sit up and take notice?

When all is said and done if you can soberly look at his career, you realise it is smoke and mirrors with some powerful hype and promotion in the background telling you its more.

ATGs don't need to buy judges, ref's , ped peddlers and refuse drug testing.

    That's what frauds do.

That they awarded him these titles is how it works hometown, but it also happened outside territory. I thought Kovalev won the 1st fight. I like Andre Ward on the outside, but when anyone tries to mix it up inside with him, it's a big holding, holding & hitting, headbutting, elbows, stinkup game.

Every ref allows this for Ward, yet I've seen points taken from fighters for far less than Ward does in 3 rounds for the same type of style. If he was so good, he wouldn't have to resort to cheap inside tricks to win against top people.

He won Super Six, Super Middle, and Light Heavy titles, and it's hard to take that away from him, even though I don't like his style much at all. Not a fan really.

He's got a killer resume, though his dubious tactics and hometown bias will always count against him. I respect his hustle, and the fact that he always managed to turn a situation to his advantage, and from a technical point of view he was very hard to fault. But I can't respect his unwillingness to travel, his constant resorting to fouling, or his entitled attitude. He was a dead zone to boxing, and I hope he stays retired, or at least stays the hell away from the cruiserweight division.

The greatest trick The Billy Goat ever pulled, was convincing the world he wasn't a fraud.

He did not take away a right by "bending low". the right hand landed at will in both fights.

He simply got too tired to throw it. Your narrative that Ward is a master boxer is just simply untrue. A flat flooded, slow, 1-2 puncher that fights in straight lines took him deep.

Thats exactly where it comes from as I'm a big fan of the usual suspects. Just so happens it can be applied to Ward.

    Kessler
    Green
    Abraham
    Froch
    Dawson
----these are essentially all the names at 168 that make him the BEST ever at 168?

And he has two wins at 175 that matter....

The legend of Ward's amazing resume and career grow exponentially every day.
    -----------------------

Now, with that being said, he's easily one of the best talents we've seen in a while. H2H a tough fight against probably anyone in his weights. But greatness is based on accomplishments, not 'What Ifs'.

Too much bacne in his last fight.

Also clearly lost the first Kov fight. Got a break from ref in the second.

    So no and no.
