I expected Gervontae Davis to run from Lomachenko, but I didn't expect Garcia to do the same

This is extremely disappointing. To see Garcia weasel his way out of a Loma fight. He's the bigger, stronger man. He's in his prime. He has no reason to run from Loma. But listen to his quote here.

"I would rather fight Spence. It's a bigger challenge, a bigger weight class. People may not take me serious, but I'm coming to Welterweight later. That's going to happen. Whether it's at the end of this year or next year I'm coming. I would love to fight Thurman or Spence".

Couple things. First I agree, that Thurman and Spence are the harder fights for him due to sheer size. That said, Garcia is still the WBC Lightweight Champion. I don't think he's having trouble making weight. He already looked small at 140. At 147 he will be tiny. There is nothing stopping Garcia from fighting Loma at 135. Garcia has already said he plans to fight again at LW/JWW. So why not Loma? He never said that he wouldn't fight Loma here.

But he's dodging the question. Just come out and say it Mikey that you don't want to fight Loma.

He's afraid of Loma taking that 0. When he fights Spence and predictably gets knocked out nobody will dog him for that. Because he's not supposed to beat the top Welterweights.

And now I'm not a huge Loma fan. I enjoy Garcia's boxer puncher style more than Lomachenko's. There is no bias here. Just calling it like it is. I don't think Garcia wants the fight.

And listen to Garcia's quote about facing Linares. "I'm definitely interested in facing Linares". Of course you are Mikey. Linares is a glass jawed average sized Lightweight.

But I have a solution to Garcia's dilemma here. Just fight them all. Spence, Thurman, Linares, Loma. If you're so ambitious fight everybody. Which includes Lomachenko at 135.

Well since Loma pretty much called out Garcia after the Rigo fight it's strange timing for Garcia to be talking about Welterweights.

After Loma's fight with Rigo. "I want Mikey Garcia".

It's a move to protect his legacy and status as a fighter. If he loses to Lomachenko it will be because Loma was too good. If he loses to Spence it will be because Spence was too big.

Mark my words... Mikey's just keeping his name out there. He will never fight Spence.

I'm running out of patience with Mikey. 30 years old. 37-0 and not a single fighter on his resume even close to an elite talent.

Let's get it going here Mikey. Come on, we've seen the Lipnets' before, enough.

well, if hes all about the money, then a fight vs spence will make him more of it because its for a ww title vs the boogeyman, and if hes all about legacy, then a fight vs spence would elevate him more because its against the "big" boogeyman.
i think arum should send him a contract and lets see if theres any ducking involved. fighters should seek fights in the ring not on twitter... and i say that towards mikey as well.

The Garcia bros dont really want that Loma fight, but I dont judge, I'd be a lot more excited to see Mikey vs Spence than Mikey vs Loma.

But I'd ask Mikey this, who's a bigger scalp atm, Loma or Spence ? Woudnt you go for the man who is regarded by many as P4P no 1 ?!?

Garcia won’t be fighting Spence or Thurman. He’ll look for more cherries around 135, with an occasional foray into 140 to pick off someone who can’t get out of their own way like Broner.

And Loma? Garcia cries himself to sleep at night asking God please, please don’t let Loma come up to 135 pounds.
