If my memory serves me right Holmes lost everytime he stepped up aswell.

Saunders won't beat Alvarez or Jacobs,imo.He has a decent following in the UK, but has done some things that have made him less than popular in some quarters. I very much doubt Saunders will be fighting in 2020.

Exactly. The bizzarely overrated Graham is known for coming up short. He always lost, He has losses at every level. Whereas Saunders breezed through British and European level and is proven at world level.

 

A motivated and up for it Billy Joe saunders is proven World class and a winner with solid wins and a solid chin , superb skills. Whereas Graham had a shaky chin and always found a way to lose.
Saunders would have stopped him late or won a decision.

 

It's likely Graham's best actual win, but looking at the circumstances of it shows you how thin his wins resume actually is.

Kalule moved up because the last three really good 154 pounders he faced all stopped him. He was years out of his championship form (hadn't won a title fight in 5 years) and wasn't a top 10 fighter at the weight when he moved up.

He nicked Kalambay before he fought Herol, and that's a fine win, but it also happened a couple years before Sumbu won his first title. Kalambay himself wasn't regarded as a top 10 fighter either at that stage, if memory serves. So it's a good win.

I think the glasses are awfully rose colored, though, for me to buy that that's a level higher than any win BJS has. Schooling Lemieux in his hometown and beating Lee are better outright IMO.

 

Saunders didn't breeze through British level Nick Blackwell . That was a hard fight for him with one judge scoring it 115-114.
He didn't breeze through Eubanks Jr either.
