Yeah I was thinking exactly the same things. Banging on about Kell's gonna be a beast at 154 in one breath and then straight onto talking about Khan in the next? Telling us all how hard it was for Brook to get down to 147 to fight spence - 'surprised' he managed to do 10 rounds as he was so drained....yet you KNOW if a Khan fight was available at only 147 he would sign the contract immediately.
The plan is plain as day - phase 1 was sign Khan, phase 2 is feed both a couple of fringe world level guys they can look good against and let the fight build some relevance again in the meantime, phase 3 agree a catchweight somewhere around 150, phase 4 mug us with a completely irrelavent PPV and sale off into the sunset with a few more million each.
It's clear Brook has no intention of making a proper go of it at 154. Every single interview revolves arounf Khan. Pretty sure he was asked aon Saturday if he would prefer a title fight at 154 or Amir Khan and he said Khan straight away!
Don;t get me wrong, I like a good rivalry but it's got to be relevant and in my eyes a rivaly between two former world champions in the twilight of their careers that aren't even in the same weight class anymore doesn;t meet my criteria!

 

He won’t dare go near Charlo. Kell has only fought two fights where his size and physical advantages he normally has over opponents have no been applicable. And he was stopped and badly injured in both.

Kell looked amazing at the weekend but he’ll be kept well clear of Charlo.

 

Khan kind of killed the fight tbh. It should have been made. They,ve left it too late now. Pretty sad that both of them had to jump 2 weight classes to basically be opponents for guys and yet avoided each other. Its khans fault he basically knows brooks got the wrong style for him...so he,s made every excuse under the sun.

These guys nowadays spend their careers avoiding guys that are wrong for them.

Reckon signing khan was the wrong move from hearn. What interest left in the fight left after that. Both guys have no where to go atm. Should just fight now...the relevance of its went way down anyway. Can't see it catching fire in terms of sales...no point building it. Just get them in after khan dispatches le greco.. The winner can move on. Or maybe rematch if its a decent enough fight.

No one wants to see them fighting le Greco or rabchenko anymore. We know they can beat them. Or building fights by fighting guys not on their level.

 

Hearn seems more intent on Casuals fights than actual proper match ups.

 

Koogan posted a phone call made to Hearn on Sunday morning. He mentions Charlo and Hearn's response was "hopefully they make us an offer".

He seemed a lot more receptive to it and mentioned June as a possible date.

 

I've gone off the idea of khan brook , both past it now, it's just a cash out fight now, fans getting ripped off.

 

There would be no rip-off as fans have a choice. They could refuse to pay if they believed that.

 

I'm wondering if Eddie/Brook are waiting to see if Liam Smith wins World Title against Sadam Ali? Do they see Smith as an easy option to pick up a world title? Personally I think Smith/Brook would be a bigger all UK fight. (Never understood why Liam is with FW when all his brothers are with Matchroom) so that could be an issue?

They've sparred together and I think it would be a right dust up!

 

This is so very true, but they will buy into all the bs hype that will convince them that this is some kind of super fight.

 

Possibly. Brook cant wait around though. Fight in June vs a high ranked opponent and then he will have some serious options for later in the year.

 

That fight does feel stale now. However, would still end up a massive fight. A few key sound bites and well rehearsed ‘beef’ at the presser, with a big push from the Sky PR machine and the casual fans will be whipped into a frenzy come fight night

 

I think it was always fairly obvious that the only thing ever on the agenda was a big money Brook-Khan fight and the associated build up which will include zero risks. So from that perspective I don't see how anyone can be disappointed.

From a boxing perspective, Charlo and Lara have fought on the same card a couple of times recently and are considered by many the top 2 in the division, shouldn't that be the fight we get to see? The fact is the best risk/reward fight for Charlo is Brook, and the best risk reward fight for Brook is Khan. Neither is different from the other.
