Obviously he's never even fought in America yet ( which is why I wouldn't be shocked if Joshua fights miller there first) but the wilder fight would be a ppv. If he wins would he stay ppv for his 'big' fights? I know very little about US ppv market but obviously its where they want Joshua to break.
Nope. I just cant see Americans paying PPV money for him unless he is fighting an American which is really who it is they are paying to watch. You gotta be American, Mexican or a one off like Pacquiao to be taken in by an American audience. And this is no criticism on American casual Boxing fans its the same all over the world.
I don't think there is any easy way for Joshua to be a PPV star in America. It would be a easy if Wilder was already a PPV fighter in America, but that will not happen. Wilder needs a well known American nemesis to fight, and maybe that would be PPV in America. Maybe Jarrell Miller could be the nemesis, he has the mouth for it, but he himself needs to be in exciting competitive fights, and both his big fights so far have ended in a lacklustre way.
Yes he can. Lewis lost early and came back to actually become a ppv attraction. But the reluctance that Joshua has been showing is why he must come to the states and beat Wilder. Joshua can bring his fans, and the fight can be promoted into something big. I just don't think that the coward, I mean fighter wants the fight.
Beating Wilder makes Joshua king of the world. Beating Joshua makes Wilder another very good American hvw fighter who the fans want to see more of. Joshua has much more to lose, but if he won he'd gain international respect and the world would be at his feet. American have seen guys like Wilder come along, win and lose. The UK fans are used to being disappointed at the hvw level for over 100 years. Even today the like Lennox, but they don't love him like Bruno.
Lewis had the advantage of going up agaist big american names like Morrison ,mercer, holyfield, Tyson, grant Briggs, rahman,McCall. Joshua doesnt have that now. Wilder is barely known at all and america arent producing much in the higher weight divisions
Wilder is getting known enough in America, that if both AJ and Wilder fight another decent opponent in a summer fight in America, do good numbers, I think an American PPV could work for them later in the year. I think the winner will have US PPV doors opened wide for them. Probably more so for Wilder, but if AJ fights another hyped American or an otherwise unusually prominent fighter, I think he could keep with US PPV
Anything's possible. He would obviously need to become more famous over there. Maybe try to pull a famous American?
If he can get it on with a Melania Trump, or a Michelle Obama, or a Hilary Clinton, or even a Barbara Bush, then he becomes a PPV fighter for life. Sex tape wouldn't hurt either.
Who cares about the United States...no-one is getting near Floyd's numbers again, ever. AJ has 90k fans in the UK to perform in front of, who needs the US when he can get money over here...
McCall was not known when Lewis first fought him he was just a sparring partner for Tyson who hadn`t beaten anyone and Mercer had already been beaten by an ageing Larry Holmes by 1996.
Joshua has said he`s not interested in making it big in America because America is no longer as important in boxing as it used to be and he`s big enough in Britain so why should he care about America?!
He doesn't need American money. He's already set for life but he said he wants to make a billion. He can only do that by breaking the American market too. If you break the UK and the US the rest of the world follows
