Well there you go. Chaves - was a nobody Bradley - didn't make sense financially Alexander - injuries to both Rios- didn't make sense financially He also didn't turn down Vargas. Vargas asked for more than was possible or you could say it didn't make sense financially.
Chaves at the time would have been Brooks second best opponent so he is a better nobody than the guys he previously fought. Bradley was for the WBO belt and they offered the fight to kell in America but Kell fought a bum named Saldiva instead or something like that. No Vargas didnt, they had the deal sorted and Brook backed out because he wasn’t happy with the split.
Chaves was still a nobody. Brook was trying to get bigger fights at that point. They fought Saldivia as an eliminator to become mandatory for the IBF belt. The plan was to get the IBF belt first as they had invested in climbing the rankings and getting into the mandatory position. They then have been able to fight Bradley on better terms in a unification fight. Vargas wanted too much money, Brook agreed anyway just to get the belt, then changed his mind when the GGG opportunity appeared. Which made sense in theory at the time.
Lool it made a lot of sense to get your face broken for a bigger check? If you can’t see that fighting GGG was a poor decision then there’s not much else I can do for you.
Nobody predicted his face would get broken. There was no reason to believe he would suffer any more long term damage than Wade or Munroe Jr etc. The plan was to get a big cheque. If he wins, amazing. If he loses he can move back down and still fight all those options at 147 or he could move to 154. Of course it made sense at the time.
Everyone predicted brook was gunna get stopped. I had 1000 on GGG to win and 150 on him to win by KO, I rarely bet big on kos except for Canelo vs Khan and Mayweather vs McGregor for. It was easy money. Monroe and Wade are bigger men than Kell they have fought 160lbers you don’t move up two division to fight p4p punchers it’s not smart.
People predicted he would get stopped but that's what meant he had little to lose and much to gain. Even if he gets stopped, he has the size excuse and his stock is still high, especially if he performs well. He would still have his belt and all the options at the lower weights. Brook is a huge WW, basically a 154lber so there is only really one weight class between them in reality.
No there isn’t if Brook wasn’t a WW he would be fighting at another weight. The fact of the matter is Brook was a career 147lber jumping up to division to fight a huge puncher. It was never gonna end with anything other than a stoppage. I was telling people I feared for Brook safety before the fight, same as I did for Amir vs Canelo. These guys aren’t ready for this type of power. Brook had never even faced a huge puncher at 147, he got busted up by Carson jones ffs.
In terms of their actual in ring and walking around weight, they are about a division apart. Yes everyone knew he would be stopped but that usually isn't the end of the world. Most of GGG's opponents have been fine after. Many fighters have fought bigger guys and been fine after. If Kell had normal facial bones (nobody knew otherwise), there wouldn't have been a problem.
He does have normal bones, he got through the Porter fight okay. He isnt used to fighting elite fighters who are bigger than him and when you have been fighting bums your whole career it probably doesn’t toughen you up for big dangerous punchers.
They probably got softened up by Golovkin Lool, hence why it was a silly move and he wasn’t ready for that type of power. Remember GGG was folding over big middleweights like Murray before.
There's no question that GGG softened up Brook's bones GGG is a certified bone breaker as the ribs of Matt Macklin and current WBC SMW champ Georgie Groves will testify. Why do you think his sparring partners, the vast majority of who are bigger than him, have to wear these? This content is protected Spence has no history of being a bone breaker, he only breaks bones that have been softened up by GGG.
