I don't know about the theories espoused by OP, I just know that the pedant in me gets annoyed when people say Parker lacks size compared to the top guys.

Maybe he lacks height by a couple of inches, so say that. He certainly doesn't lack natural size.

The modern so-called "super heavyweights" are often not as BIG as they are made out to be- rather they are very tall with lean, aesthetic physiques.

AJ and Wlad Klitschko are two of the best examples of this, being 6'5"-6'6" and carved out of stone. However this obscures the fact that these guys were "only" about 230lb when in their mid-20s. They then bulked up and got these enormous muscular physiques and were still "only" 240-250lb.

Parker is not even very big for a Samoan but at 6'3" (realistically he isn't 6'4") he is 230lb+ while lean and with almost no muscle bulk at all compared to AJ or WK.

Honestly I don't know if I've ever seen a Samoan who is 6'5"+ and less than 240lb in pro sport. That would be flat out skinny for a dude with any sort of typical Islander physique. Guys like WK and AJ are so skinny through the legs and midsection by comparison. AJ has fantastic legs from a bodybuilding standpoint and you have to be impressed by the work that went into them, but every kid in South Auckland comes out of his mama with legs bigger than that.

I think Parker will struggle to get in range without taking big shots on the way in. When he does get in close/mid range, AJ is still dangerous with his shorter punches and he has the size to clinch Parker. Parker can win this but it's going to be very difficult. He's gonna need the fight of his life imo.

I'd rather have Anthony Joshuas mesomorphic build than any other boxer in the top 10 right now.

He's got a knockout build. Literally.

Actually, Parker is bang on 6'4". You can see it at the presser. Just 2 inches between them.

And yes - Parker is much 'broader' naturally while AJ is much skinnier.

I still say Parker will walk through his jab and smash him.

I think 154-168 pound fighters typically have the best builds. They're not midgets usually, but not so tall that they look awkward either. They're usually 5'10"-6'1" and they fight gracefully without looking frail either.

I agree with Kiwi that Joe is a taller, faster, better overall fighter than Tua, but I wouldn't classify Joe as the "thick squat" body type as Tua, Tyson, and I'll add Rahman, Holy, Toney and Peter to that list.
MOF, I agree that genetics does lend most fighters to specific styles suitable for their body type.
However, there are tall and lanky fighters, ie Wilder, Wach, Dimitrenko, Furys to name a few.
However, I have to disagree with putting the Klitschkos, Lewis, AJ, and even Parker into either category.
Yes, they're all tall at 6'4 +. But if look at the earliest photos of the afformentioned, they were all lanky, Parker included.

The difference between these guys and the lanky fighters is they have completely different bone density.
The 3 top 10 ATGs, Lewis and the K2 all carried about 250lbs without detriment.

None of them having high body fat or fighting like the big stiffs "tall lanky" fighters were once known for.

I'm of the opinion that Parker is in that very small minority of tall HWs.
Those who can fill out to the 250 range while not slowing or tightening up.

I am however a little apprehensive about Joe's age and lack of big stage experience might be a hindrance.

I also think that while he clearly beat Takam, Ruiz Jr and Fury....8/4..8/4...9/3
He was given some of the WORST corner instruction I've seen at this level in each of the fights.

I just think he's essentially been fighting on raw talent/strength.
Not being a Barry hater, but Joe really truly needs a coach to teach him to cut the ring (Fury), catch and counter (Takam) and grind inside to the body and throw uppercuts when his opponents are smothering (Ruiz Jr).

Parker IS a natural, but Barry is better than you think.

Parker is capable of doing a "Dimitrenko" on AJ.

So few see it, but its true. Parker by mid-Rnds KO.

If Parker has a solid chin like Tua it will be a long night for Joshua. I expect Joshua to win, but I have to give Parker a chance. However, Joshua will own the judges, referee, boxing commission, etc., so that will make it harder for Parker to win, it's impossible for him to win by decision, totally impossible! If Joshua were to get into trouble, then Joshua's referee will stop the fight and give it to Joshua, this is Joshua's home turf! It's impossible for him to lose a decision, everything is on his side............
