Think it's good to see Eddie Hearn pushing for his fighter to fight George Groves instead of a stand in, think it shows the confidence he has in Callum Smith to win. Great thing about fight is both fighters have strengths to exploit each other's weaknesses.

So torn about this fight. I like both fighters...I think Callum can go onto be a world champion, possibly in 2 divisions...I just think this might be too soon for him though. He is capable of stopping Groves, but i can’t see him outthinking Groves and adapting over the 12 rounds. He hasn’t had that step up transition fight. Groves will be levels above anyone he’s previously fought.

They’ll both be throwing that jab out, but Groves is more evasive whereas Smith doesn’t move his head enough. I’m not writing Smith off though like many seem to be. He’s an excellent boxer.

Can you call a 50/50 fight an upset?

Kind of assumed Groves would be the favourite with the majority and the bookies.

    50/50 for me too.

It’s basically 50/50 at the bookies.

Personally think Groves wins this fight all day long, Smith has been poor in recent fights and this is a huge step up.

Very good chance Groves KOs him, lack of head movement against a power puncher is a big problem.

Depends on bow bad his injury is

Shoulder injury put and end to me boxing ever again .

If it just popped out briefly then he will be okay . If he had to be put out to get it back in it will take ages to heal properly . First dislocation i had I couldn't change gears in a car for 6 weeks .

It’s near on 50/50 with the bookies but the majority are slightly favouring Smith.

It is a hard one to call. I think both have an excellent jab but I too think with Groves head movement he will edge that department. I noticed even without a jab Eubank still got close to Groves alot and think with having an excellent jab and footwork Smith will get close to him even more. This is were i think Smith wins fight as he's a much harder, more accurate body puncher than Eubank with much better boxing IQ and footwork. So when he's in close he will wear Groves down alot more than Eubank did and this will lead to him winning by late stoppage.

I hope the extra time is enough to heal properly. There would be nothing worse than not getting a proper outcome due to an injury resurfacing. It all seems a bit of a rushed time frame. Surely it wouldn't hurt anyone to try and get it for the end of July/early August.

I agree, this is a much much harder fight for Groves than what Eubank was. Like you say, Smith’s body work is excellent.

How did your shoulder injury occur in the first place Greg?

Groves has had surgery on his shoulder has he not ? Sure I read that, if so I still think the July date is a little bit too soon. The thing (I have loads of experience in this area) if you dislocate something its makes it more likely to happen again. Its not like a a break where the bone can heal in denser and get stronger, or like muscle injury where you can increase the muscle or make it more flexible to prevent further injury. dislocations are totally different (I have disclocated my shoulder twice and my knee's about 10/11 times !!). It depends on how bad the dislocation was though.

I personally don't think George's shoulder will be a 100% for July. Feel sorry for Callum as if he wins how many will say its only because George's shoulder ?
