Joseph Agbeko vs. Abner Mares RBR

That was a low blow for sure, but even without the knockdown Mares still did enough to win. Agbecko would of gotten lucky if he got a draw, but he didn't do enough to win. Great fight though.

just thought id have a look at some highlights to see how bad it was for the low blows. Mares was one dirty **** but that ref had better been suspended. Was disgraceful from him.

Not a fight where it can be argued that a fighter simply strayed low a few times, perhaps being unlucky enough to be pulled down behind the head while they were throwing said body shots.... No, this was the boxing equivalent of 1st degree murder, and getting away with it in plain view.

Shocking then, and shocking now.

 

Conclusion, bumb your old SA and Asian threads out of nowhere to bump up their reply status.

Seriously, this is one of those extreme instances of an incompetent or probably partial referee completely destroying a fight and part of a boxer's career.
I think less and less fans are letting these things slide nowadays.

 

Was the referee held to any kind of standard post fight, any action, besides having to listen to Jim Gray bellyache for a few brief moments? (Punishment enough that must of been, Gray is an absolute ****.)

 

Nothing I guess. Like the judges coming up with ridiculous and sometimes even impossible scorecards get away without any serious actions taken against them.
The fans however have more outlets on things like twitter, youtube and website replies and such to make their voice heard and shame those involved nowadays. And more and more do.

 

People need to be held accountable. Ideally a ton of people could take to the internet to locate some information on how to contact the people that employ these judges, so you would have to attempt to contact the commission I suppose...

Meh, who knows. That Byrd lady didn't score for a few years after her last wretched score card because of the backlash involved, correct?

 

This fight made me not like Mares and Mora was a scumbag for letting that **** go on. One of the worst reffed fights that I’ve seen-ever!
