it would be great if price won but everytime he throws a punch and pulls it back his hand drop and he moves back in straight line and is wide open for a povetkin power shot
I don't think he has any chance. As a fan its a great fun fight but its actually pretty dangerous matchmaking at this stage. Povetkin can really put it on people. Bearing in mind we,ve seen price turn his back more than once, totally exhausted to the point of struggling to stay upright even when he's winning...its not looking good for him. Would love him to do it tho. Probably worth one last big punt. But everything does point to a bit of a brutal beating for him.
He once upset some fairly lofty odds by chinning the world #1 in Beijing 10 years ago. He had it in him to rise to the occasion back then, even though he was banjo'd by Cammarelle not long afterwards. That seems like a lifetime ago. I get why people want him to go balls to the wall from the off but Povetkin's too cute for that, he'll time a counter sharpish and that'll be that. I'm hoping the way this fight's being seen, as an impossible task, lifts a lot of the pressure he might normally be under. He needs to be sharp and loose at the same time to have any chance. Maybe with a clear mind he can bottle some lightning. I hope so, but it's just such a hard match-up.
This fight reminds me of when A Farce faced Deontay Wilder back in 2013. Its a fight where a mentally shot former British world HW title is being used as an easy marking time fight on a world HW challengers record. Its being sold as the "last chance", when all honesty the "last chance" for Price was against Hammer when he folded like a deck chair yet again.
Povetkin won the gold medal at superheavyweight, he is used to fighting fighters much bigger than he, he beat Wach who is 6 feet 8 inches tall, with a good chin..........Price has a puncher's chance if he can land his right hand right on the button, but Povetkin has a good chin, moves well, combinations, hell Wilder was extremely afraid of Povetkin, so badly so that Povetkin was framed, well, VADA made a mistake on Povetkin's test, then corrected it, VADA cleared him, but Haymon would not allow the WBC to demand the mandatory. Haymon has kept Wilder away from Povetkin Wilder ever since................Why doesn't Price take a few easy fights, get a good trainer, then fight a top ranked fighter, he should not be fighting Povetkin. His only chance is a very lucky punch.............
na... he has to go for it in the first round, but I can only see him getting KO,d in the first 3 rounds
Na not a chance ...... it might be the biggest upset by a Brit fighter in a long time but Povetkin is nothing compared to what he once was and even then he wasnt the best. In recent times I thought Brook got it spot on against Porter who was on a real roll at the time, Selby's perfromance against Gradovich was pretty much punch perfect (although Grado was custom made for Selby).
Look, you can give it the whole 'ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN' tag, which is true. That's why boxing is awesome. BUT...there isn't a logical reason you can pick Price beyond having a feeling (which is ****ing meaningless). When he's lost, he's lost cleanly. Two of the fights can kinda be scrubbed because they got done for PED's I suppose but the shots he got hit with...firstly they shouldn't have landed (Thompson 1, he drops his left when throwing the uppercut for example) and secondly...I don't know how much difference the PED use would have made at that stage in the fight. Either way, we've seen since he can't fight for more than 5 rounds and this amazing power he has couldn't really deter Christian Hammer and Sokolowski, who he looked poor against. Povetkin meanwhile has had what like a couple of bad showings? Against Huck who is a good fighter and against Wlad who was in his absolute prime then too. Besides, Wlad couldn't put him away either. He hits hard enough to ice Price, he is a much better boxer than Price, he is much more confident than Price and he can fight for 12 rounds as well. Yes, anything can happen but that isn't a reason to pick Price because frankly there isn't one.
Price has come out and said he is there to "cause an upset" Yes, an upset mother, wife, friends, family and fans as he gets the absolute **** beaten our of himself yet again.
They can’t pull him away from the TV, as he keeps watching George McFly knock Biff spark out, over and over again. I’d love him to do a number on Povetkin. You never know...he might pull out a big combo out of thin air like he did against Hammer. Povetkin will be very wary of him though the first few rounds so I don’t think Price will get any opportunity to unload. Ironically, the only chance he has is when he’s under an onslaught.
