No he makes weight and he was reportedly 162 on the night, that's only 8lbs he's not exactly Gatti or Crawford in putting the weight back on. He's tall, he's got a massive head and upper body which exaggerate his size.
People are quick to slate these guys who come into fights way bigger than there opponents but allude then to the fact that making weight will be way harder for them. That effort to make weight will make it harder for them to perform on fight night, so factor that into the equation too. He probably is using stuff to make weight but so is pretty much everyone at the elite level.
If he can make the weight then no. End of discussion. Y’all act like this is the first time a tall dude made a smaller weight class.
Sure he's massive at the weight but every fighter out there enters the ring 1, 2 or sometimes 3 weight classes above the weight limit. Some fighters have natural power, some have natural speed, if Hurd's physiology lets him cut weight easier and put it back on then good for him.
So Hurd has no boxing skills lol....landing left hooks to Lara’s ribs, cutting off the ring and forcing a seasoned Vet like Lara to fight in the pocket with you when you have the physical advantage means you have no boxing skills.
My thoughts exactly. If they can put themselves through it and weigh in on schedule then it's all above board I guess....
He reminds me of Margarito in his early days, crude but ultimately effective. He won't win prizes for finesse but he can get the job done through grit and momentum.
I dont really believe in this weight bully excuse, I tend to find it is just excuse making by pissed off fans when their guy loses to another fighter and its their way of belittling a loss or performance by the winner to me its simple, you make weight you make weight. I'm more mad when a guy comes in over and makes no attempt to make the weight on a second weigh in or comes in several pounds over and they go ahead anyway and the small guy gets pummeled however its the guy who made weights decision to go ahead any way
actually later in the fight Hurd began to jab and he landed some very good jabs and made it work effectively which is a hard punch to land vs southpaws I liked some of his head movement and his ability to double his punches which I think troubled Lara at times along with his uppercuts which I thought were very impressive Lara usually uses the whole ring and Lara tried to jab and move at times but Hurd never let him get on his bike
Hurd has that Bob Fitzsimmons body type where your upper body is a heavyweight and your legs are breadsticks.
