Even more shocking than his performance was the sight of Jim mcdonell punching the air like they had beaten Muhammad ali.
This I think degale has had a tough career for less than 30 fights and is faded, but as the man said, he has had a good career and been a road warrior. I would like James to retire now. Degale has always cut and marked up badly. Degales style I think is tough on himself. With it, he is always having to move alot more than his opponents which I think tires him out. He is often working twice as hard whilst his opponents just turn their body, Degale has done a full circle around them. I think he gets tired and tends to rest on the ropes when that happens and cant evade the punches. Only my opinion but not sure if its something his corner sees? Edit Consider Degale won his world title away and was a world champ in only his 22nd fight and his first defence was away to Bute. Other SMW champs at present didnt win a world title until - Ramirez 34 fights and Groves 29 fights though I thought groves looked to have beaten Jack. Benavidez has a SMW title in less fights than Degale but wasnt fighting at the same level as Dirrell, Bute etc IMO
He won, Truax lost, Degale will get another pay day defending the IBF strap, Degale is all about the money as past media reports state. I do think his career is on borrowed time, but he won Olympic gold, won world title, so fair dos to him, majority of fighters would have been pleased to win either one of those.
Degale looked about the same as his last fight with Truax. Truax looked a bit bloated and spent most of the night smothering his own punches. He even admitted after the fight he had an off-night. Showtime's Nick Charles retracted a "journeyman" comment he made about Truax but after last night it looked like two journeymen were in the ring.
Indeed. Truax looked as interested in retaining his title as would be Karl Marx in reading the bible.
degale just eeked out ahead in my book, but I would have decked a point for his dirty tactics and thus a draw. not a stellar performance though, as my old biochem prof used to say to me after exams.
Degale is an example of a great amateur, okay pro. He should probably retire. He's been reduced to fighting dirty fights and getting into wars.
I never been a fan but you got to give this guy his props. He puts in work. Has a great resume amateur or pro. Hes done his thing. Hes def ready to go. I would fight a class B fighter at home and call it a career.
The fight was near unwatchable at times. He should sit on his title until the WBSS IS over, fight the winner for big money and then retire. Don't fight Truax again as that loss would be career ending (at least in terms of paydays)
DeGale is finished, they talked about a rematch, perhaps DeGale should take the rematch as he can't beat anyone else..................lucky to beat Truax, hell, they both lost, they should be made to fight again, only this time not get paid unless they fight, not wrestle, this is not WWE!
