    He never entered into negotiations despite the mandatory and only did so after the GGG fight;

Brook signed to fight Golovkin before the Spence fight was mandated.

Stop lying! Brooks was behind on 2 and even on 1 according to the judges scorecards going into the 8th round. After 8 he would have been down on all scorecards. Spencew whooped that boy fair and square and will do it again. You dummy! Why would Spence be scared to fight Brook a second time after stopping him in front of his home town.

Spence became Brook's mandatory after the Bundu fight.

Yep and by that time GGG Vs Brook had already been signed and announced.

Brook signs up for GGG fight. Spence beats Bundu to become mandatory. Brook fights GGG. Brook has surgery on eye injury and takes time to decide whether he will move back down to 147 or 154. Brook decides to go back down to defend 147 title against mandatory challenger Errol Spence Jr.

Brook never did want to fight Spence regardless of the mandatory and that's why he went into negotiations with GGG. Even after the GGG fight he tried to make a fight with Khan.

Khan and Golovkin were much more lucrative fights. All fighters fight for money and titles, including Spence.

If he hadn't have wanted to have fought him, he wouldn't have.

You've got to give him credit for dropping back for Spence after the GG fight.

He's always wanted a Khan fight.

He could have dropped the belt and moved up to JMW after GG, or he could have asked for an extension and had a tune up at a C-W.

It was a huge risk to do what he did. I'm not really a fan of Kell's, but I have great respect for what he did. He put himself under huge pressure, especially with the fight being at Bramall Lane in Sheffield.

Yeah, but fear is a great motivator and excuse to go in another direction.

He fought GGG and Spence and seems keen to fight Spence again. There's nothing to suggest he was ever scared to fight Spence.

Spence broke his face and TKO'd him in their fight. It was decisive.

Credit to Brook for wanting it but there's plenty better for Spence to make.

Brook should be gunning for "domestic level" for a while before and if he ever wants to take another stab at the top.

One thing I did miss and I will acknowledge that now. That is the influence of Hearn. Brook is not a coward but Hearn is a businessman and a scandalous one at that. He was in Brook's ear and a lot of the maneuvering was most likely as a direct result of his influence. I see how he's handling Joshua and I suspect he was moving the same way with Brook.

Some ppl on these forums just can’t give any quarter to a fighter. The same ppl criticizing Kell for wanting a rematch with Spence are the same ppl who would roundly criticize him if he tried to avoid another encounter.

There’s a good possibility he could lose the rematch and be 0-2 against Spence. At the same time, there’s no shame in seeking the rematch, even without a belt. Plenty of ATGs lost their first encounter with another ATG and set the record straight in the rematch(es). Examples include:

    Louis Schmeling
    Robinson Lamotta
    Ali Frazier
    SRL Duran

Maybe Spence isn’t cut from the ATG cloth of the fighters mentioned above.

The best part about this is that Kell is man enough to look Spence in his face, man-to-man, to demand the rematch. Meanwhile, guys like Porter, Garcia, and Thurman are doing everything in their power to avoid crossing paths with Spence.
