Just stating Holy's career from the start wasn't matched easy. That final sentence solidifies how Gr8 Holy was/is.

As he won HW championships, regained it, he still fought that stigma.

True any weight division can claim--when a fighter loses after moving up..they're blown up. IMO its an excuse for losing. Holy was called it years into winning the HW title.

 

I'm far from a historian but I do know that Holyfield moving up the HW ranks to get a shot at Tyson was facing a lot of critiscm that his power wouldn't carry to HW. I think he carried it well though.

He fought the best, just not sure out the gate. admit I had to box rec his early fights! Not too familiar with those names and their records look a bit suspect.
I remember Holy's start because the card featured about four Olympians from the 84 team.
Only 2 out of Holy's 1st 12 opponents had losing records.

I've heard the same about David Reid- that he was matched tough early on. A few around his camp knew his eye was suffering so they cashed in on him.
