No you are wrong about them having purse parity before the Wlad fight. As the article below proves Joshua was already making 4 times what Wilder was making when he fought Whyte. Even now Wilder hasn't made half of what Joshua made for the Whyte fight. Even the less lucrative fights with Molina and Breazele Joshua was making almost double what Wilder was making. https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-ne...es-the-amount-wilder-made-in-last-fight/51211 I agree that Wilder has grown in popularity recently the Ortiz fight showed that, largest audience to date, good Showtime ratings, but whatever he brings is a pittance compared to what Joshua is generating. 40% he won't get, Joshua refused to pay Parker that much and he won't pay that for Wilder. 35% is a reasonable compromise though. Anything less than 30% is a low ball offer in my opinion when they paid Parker at least that.
Why? There are millions in the UK who will pay to watch it and 90k who will attend and cheer themselves hoarse. Why swap that for an apathetic crowd of bored gamblers? There's no proof that the demand is even there. If the first fight is good however...
I agree there is no guarantee this fight would light up Vegas at all. Both fighters are relatively unknown in the US. Wilder has never headlined Vegas, isn't on ppv so I'm not convinced the casinos in Las Vegas are really that interested. If AJ could guarantee a few thousand UK fans to follow him to Vegas then would make a difference.
The fight "could" "possibly" make more money in the USA. But thats a could and a possibly. Where as we know for a fact how much it would atleast make in the UK. So taking the fight to America is a gamble and who wants to gamble with that much money? Especially when the American fighter wants so much more than he is worth.
If Hearn can find another direction to go in without looking too stupid, he will. They are trying everything that they can to make Deontay look like he don't deserve or belong in the ring with AJ but it's only fueling the fire in Wilder. The same maneuvers he made with Brook and Spence but only on a bigger scale.
I'm not the one out there in Wilder's business like many of these baffoons are. It's feminine to say the least, to worry about what's in another man's pockets. Fix your own first but many of these AJ protectors are no doubt living in council housing getting government checks should worry about getting their own **** together first instead of living through people better than them. I don't even believe AJ's side anyways, still talking about non existent past offers leads me to believe they are still bs'ing. I don't want to hear about boxing politics attempted face saving bluster, make the damn fight.
Isnt 15 million a full 6x what Wilders biggest purse has been? Id read his biggest ever was his last fight which was 2.1 million.
If I was Wilder I'd accept on the proviso the signed rematch clause gives me (Wilder) 80% for the rematch. Wilder is going to knock that stiff bum out.
