    Round 8

Canció is jabbing the body and ducking inside as Sharibayev tries in vain to time him with a big hook up top, whistling overhead. Canció is lining up Sharibayev for the jab, missing as the Kazakh starts to get into a rhythm and writhe around it. Canció walks him down and puts together jabs & uppercuts on the chin, nearly trapping Sharibayev on the ropes. Sharibayev is answering with a strong 1-2, pitching himself forward on the ball of either foot, putting his full body weight into his combos. Canció backs out and circles to his left, popping the pot-shot left jab into the face in multiples. Flurry while turning Sharibayev at close range by Canció. Wild right thrown by Sharibayev at the body while spinning to square up, missing.

    10-9 Canció

    78-72 Canció

Much better round from Sharibayev. Not sure if it was enough to win it though.

    Round 9

Canció is somewhat gassed, laboring to get the jab on target from mid-range now. Sharibayev is squatting low and dusting the body with light combos. Sharibayev can not keep up this stolen momentum for long, however, as Canció is soon putting him into full retreat once more with body shots. Big right hand by Canció has Sharibayev hurt and searching unconsciously for a grounded surface with an outstretched glove to steady himself. Canció too weary to move in and finish him off, nor even score a knockdown in this one, but Sharibayev was primed for him there. Raul Caiz Sr. was having a close look.

    10-9 Canció

    88-81 Canció

    Round 10

Canció is slamming him with rights, Sharibayev driven into the corner, under fire, wobbly, unable to stop Canció's advance, shaken up by each right hand - towel in!!!

    TKO10!!

Are you really nitpicking a guy that was I think at least a 5/1 underdog putting in such a dominant performance and stopped his unbeaten opponent..."too late"? :dunno

Or do you mean the ref or corner should've called it off by then?

Sharibayev was bobbled headed with every jab Cancio landed and hurt by every power shot from round 1. Even the ones he partially blocked were hurting him. In the 5th, he might have dodged a lot, but Cancio threw about 50 unanswered punches. The 6th, he was a drunk zombie.

Not Cancio's fault at all. He came to chew gum and whip some azz.

The broadcast on ESPN2 is penciled for a 2-hour time slot running until midnight EST; if the main event is a quick blowout there's a chance we see either Jonathan Navarro or Rommel Caballero's showcases as live swing bouts.
