And HBO were not even going to put up $1 million until ESPN offered the same.

    Disgraceful.

No wonder O'Sullivan turned down the fight, he'd be getting $250k or thereabouts. Andrade wanted 7 figures (and I don't blame him, under normal circumstances it's a $3-4 million fight) so that's why that one fell apart.

I guess they really want GGG to sign up to the Canelo rematch, once his ban is up...

Money does talk and Golovkin is not really a big draw in the grand scheme of things. It's evident.

That's why they don't even want to entertain this fight with a big offer.

GGG isn't a draw on his own.

Although I get your point, it's mostly due to HBO's boxing budget being broke.

Given a decent promotion and buildup GGG can still do $5 million revenue with a decent opponent.

This certainly shed light on the fussing over an opponent

Spike's magnificent moustache would set you back about $250k if you purchased one from a reputable dealer.

GGG's an international draw that was called out by just about everyone, but there's so much to do in 3 weeks as far as big bucks go. You don't expect Joshua-Wilder do $100 on three weeks notice, do you? Promotion, buzz and selling tickets (hotel rooms, flight reservations) take time on both organizers and fans' side, and ALL of Team Clenelo, NSAC and HBO should've pulled out early match, since Nevada rules were clear that Clen-GGG can't happen legally.

Given two months, a better opponent, a sold out East Coast venue and much TV interest could've upped the budget several times, probably a better opponent, but nobody gave a damn what happens to the innocent party. I understand Clenelo: it's damage control and the cheating fück's blaming the pullout on GGG. I understand WBA/WBC, they are corrupt as fück.

I don't understand however what took NSAC 4 weeks to find the small print in their rules, and how HBO, firing Tarver as commentator after a positive test, did nothing when in fact they had the ability and responsibility to distance themselves from a PED cheat, giving GGG (and themselves) enough time to do a fight worthy of HBO's history.

Unfortunately however, HBO doesn't give a damn about boxing anymore.

This. GGG back to lowballing opponents again. Jacobs exposed why GGG was struggling to get opponents in the ring before their fight.

Can’t believe how different the UK and US boxing markets are

GGG almost certainly would get more than that in UK if he fought and was promoted here in UK

HBO is in crisis right now, but 5 years ago it was different.

Jacobs got about 40%, Lemiuex got 43% ... those are not lowball numbers.
