Instead of a six month ban for testing positive, i'd prefer to seeing something more innovative.

Why?

There's often a guy who loses just as much, if not more, than the guy who gets caught.
It isn't a 'victimless crime'.

A 12 month, weekly/fortnitely test by Vada, financed 100% from the cheat (Flights, accomodation etc).......

Then should the individual be caught again, whether in the 12 month period or after, an instant 2 year ban.

 

6 months is a joke. What kind of deterrent is that?

I would actually be a lot, lot harsher on cheats than Paulie suggests.

There is a soccer player recently, called Bradley Wood, plays for a small club (Lincoln City), anyway he bet on himself that he'd get a yellow card in two separate matches, the bookmakers noticed the suspicious betting patterns and flagged it up, he has just been found guilty and banned for 6 years! Bear in mind this guy hadn't thrown a match, he wasn't doping, he didn't hurt anyone.

So if they can give this guy a 6 year ban, why can't we be at least as harsh on people who take drugs and cheat their opponents out of glory and money, and rob the fans of a fair contest?

I don't understand why we only give them a slap on the wrist. There has to be a deterrent, you have to know if you get caught taking drugs your career is over, finished, kaput. No second chances. Otherwise, what's the point? Especially in a sport like boxing where people can get hurt.

And Canelo, btw, is by no means the only one.

 

If you don't think Canelo cheated purposefully then well... I don't know what to say. He looks guilty as hell to anyone not a fan.

The answer is simple; TPTB don’t want to stop doping. There’s more money in the disease than the cure. TPTB are only interested in anti doping controversy, not anti doping itself.
Gambling, however, is something that needs to be dealt with swiftly and forcefully.

 

Yes and six months is just the normal lay off period between fights for this guy anyway

 

Maria Sharapova got ban 2 years after she got caught doping so Canelo should be banned at least 2 years or so too.

 

Combat sports should hold the most severe punishments for drug cheats.

In football, US football, Basketball etc.....

'Enhancing your performance' doesn't put your opponent at huge health risks.

 

This is what Canelo defenders don't understand. As it is Canelos responsibility know what' going into his body he is to be held accountable for the consequences. However, if it was meat contamination then stricter punishments would help absolve him in the eyes of fans. The title of PED cheat hangs over a fighters career forever because nobody can tell if they are still on or off them after the fact. If Canelo went under strict testing with a ban that meant something and then came back just as good as he was before then more people would be willing to believe meat contamination.

 

Remember "Canelo passed a 3rd test".....

That means he failed 2.

 

6 months is a time out, not a punishment fitting a doper failing two tests.

Clenelo Pedvarez is a PED cheat in perfect completion. You can not deny that, even if you are a fan of his boxing personality/style/abilities. He is doing this for years now, utter bs trash talk about some ****ing meat is disgusting, he has no balls in his pants, disgusting piece of cheating ****.

The six-month suspension is a bad joke.

Paulie is absolutely right. He should be on the radar right now, giving a sample/test every week for about two years or even more. He can fight after six months but getting caught a second time he receives a second ban, this time more drastically.

 

Should have copped a two year ban. Now he gets to recuperate from his injury and get training again in time for September... Not exactly a punishment. But he is one of the top money makers in the sport.... Can't ban him for too long.

It's like Floyd's pathetic 2 month jail time for domestic battery. Can't keep the cash cow out to long....
