A career high or SD is completely irrelevant when he's guaranteed more money if he just waits a couple weeks. If Golovkin refuses to fight after it is ordered then he gets stripped and SD makes a similar or higher purse fighting for or defending the belt against other people. Offering 1m is preventing risk by HBO. They are obviously expecting backlash from Canelo pulling out to effect the ratings. Crying about keeping the May 5th date when Golovkin is normally an active fighter and just went a much longer than usual period without fighting because of Canelo just sounds like whining. He's staying active while making sure he's available to fight in September should the Canelo fight be rescheduled.
Derevy's promoter is saying they want to negotiate a fight after May 5th lol. He agrees that having a SD vs GGG fight isn't a good idea for May 5th. What he wants is a fight to be negotiated after May 5th to settle the IBG issue. If Team GGG don't want an SD fight after May 5th, then they're ducking for $$$. Otherwise, it's not a duck, even Derevy's promoter agrees..
Who is guaranteeing more money, and how much is being guaranteed? How does SD make more money if he isn't a draw, when fighters usually get paid based on their drawing power?
which is what you are doing. attacking golovkin every day to take attention off of your man crush getting popped for being a cheat.
Derevy is in a division that's getting a lot of attention right now. If he holds a title then He's going to get paid more than the 200-300k he would have made fighting GGG on May 5th. I'm sorry you're pessimistic enough to believe otherwise but I'm not.
Everyday? Are you kidding me? GTFO with your BS. Also, if I'm discussing GGG, that's because he's fighting in a few weeks. You sound like an insecure butthurt fan.
That's one too many IFs. I'm pessimistic because GGG's career has been carefully orchestrated and full of double standards and contradictions and this is no different.
The fact that situation is all it takes for you to make that claim tells me you've nothing but look for reasons to drag Golovkins name through the mud. It makes zero finanial sense for SD to take the May 5th date and it's also very risky fighting a guy who has been in camp preparing for what was the toughest fight of his career. This whole SD ordeal has had GGG critis grasping at reasons to hate on him. The Vanes fight isn't good but I didn't delude myself into thinking better fights were an option. I really hope the fight is ordered next and the fight happens just to make all of you critics look dumb for jumping the shark.
I would call it a duck, but borderline. There are a lot of factors involved.. 1. What if D-Chenk is juicing? He hasn't been tested all along. 2. A guy from Russia vs. a guy from the Ukraine, who cares? (Vanes is Armenian, little Armenia is a few miles away from Carson in Glendale, CA) They would probably have to fight on the east coast. Was there an arena available? 3. Derevyanchenko (and Andrade) are good. No question about it. Nobody wants to jeopardize $20m. for $750,000. 4. Money. Does a ranked guy want to take this kind of fight on 3 weeks notice for $250,000?
The bottom line is that considering everything boxing fans go through this one is not terrible, GGG's trained just ****ed him with that "anybody from 154..." BS.
The question was: This content is protected Fischer's reply after talking to Lou Di Bella personally: This content is protected Also: This content is protected Also, Di Bella never contacted Team GGG to discuss or try to make the fight, apart from an initial Twitter message when it was still on PPV and the purses were substantial. He went straight to the IBF to try to get Derevyanchenko mandated (in which case the fight would happen later) or Golovkin stripped. The plain fact is that it is in neither guy's interest to fight at short notice for peanuts, if you were Lou Di Bella would you advise Sergiy to step in for peanuts at short notice? Of course not. It of course doesn't change the fact that Team GGG wanted no part of Derevyanchenko at short notice, so if that's your definition of duck ... fine. I'm just pointing out that it's not as straightforward this time, I generally refrain from using the word duck unless it's more blatant. E.g. if the IBF enforces Derevyanchenko and Golovkin fights someone other than BJS/Canelo and gets stripped. Everyone tells me that Canelo, despite dropping the belt, did not duck Golovkin because he fought him a year later. By the same standard, GGG may end up fighting Derevyanchenko later this year or next. TL;DR: I criticize Team GGG for the Vanes fight, but it doesn't quite come up to my standard of "ducking" Sergiy, whom I rate very highly.
