I'd say he deserves it about as much as Whyte or Breazeale deserves a shot against Wilder. Guys like these should really be third choice at best behind 1) The unification, and 2) Povetkin. And that's discounting Parker and Ortiz on account of their last losses.

There's really not much difference between (Chisora/Helenius/Browne), (Washington/Wach/Duhaupas) and (Igonoh/Molina) which is why I begrudgingly have Miller, Whyte and Breazeale in my top ten ahead of guys like Ruiz and Takam whom I think beat them. Ideally they'd fight each other, or a guy like Pulev to really catapult themselves into contention, but alas it is a weak division and beating names of yesteryear whilst waiting your turn seems to be the norm.

 

Not really. I think Povetkin deserves the shot. But then it is a good fight to try to introduce Joshua to the American market if it is to take place in America. Though he will never really break America and if he Boxes Miller like he Boxed Parker he wont do his brand any favours over there.

 

Povetkin should have his pick.
And the WBA/Super/minor and if nothing else, an interim title fight, possibly forcing Wilder to vacate to preserve the AJ fight

They should take fast turnaround showcase fights and vs past expiration date gatekeepers and B level type journeyman.

Povetkin deserves a fight against Joshua. Povetkin also deserves a fight with Wilder, VADA cleared Povetkin, yet Haymon would not allow the WBC to allow the fight to happen. Povetkin won in court, was proven innocent, so he diserves the fight, Ryabinskiy won the purse bid, Wilder was shaking!

No he doesn't, he'd be the worst opponent for Joshua since he defended against Molina. Povetkin is obviously the preferred next opponent if the Wilder fight can't be made.

But having said that who has Povetkin beat of late that's so good, Price, Rudenko, Hammer, Duhaupas and Wach. Not exactly better than Miller's recent opponents. But Povetkin is the mandatory and is far more proven after a long career even though his recent wins are nothing to get excited about.

 

Povetkin was declared not guilty, and it was found that he did not take meldonium after its official prohibition that started January 1, 2016. Povetkin was cheated, he should have a fight with Wilder right now to right the wrong, he is also mandatory for Joshua. He is the most dangerous figher out their for Joshua and extremely dangerous for Wilder, good think Haymon and the WBC are protecting Wilder!

 

I agree that Povetkin needs to get his shot, and soon.

That said, Miller is tailor made for AJ to dismantle and I'm sure that Big Baby will be fed to a top fighter soon.
