If Haye just boxed and actually used a high guard, spoiled and kept jabbing to the body and head he may have survived the full 12.

It's not his style to use conventional boxing defense and that should've been the gameplan at his age with Salas.

His speed just isn't there and his reflexes have gone. He was landing the jabs, though.

Man, so many people pissing on Bellew. I don't think he's some intellectual giant or someone I'd want to be best pals with but he stopped the next big thing (TM) at cruiserweight before everyone starting riding Usyk and Gassiev's jock but he seemingly gets no credit for that or the type of moving up in weight that people typically associate with fighters on the much vaunted "P4P" lists.

His fights against Haye were his biggest ever pay day. Hes just earned $4m. Which is twice as much as Deontay Wilder has his whole career in one fight. Why would he fight Cruisers to earn a pittance when he can fight others at heavy for millions?

He did press the pace too much. Not wise when you're a guy past it.

I don't want to hear Bellew's voice I want him to go away forever. He makes me wretch. That said, if he fought that balloon face creep from Oakland not only would I be rooting for him hard, but if he actually beat him I would put a pic of his stupid Scouse face in my avatar for a month.

Nah Bellew could beat Povetkin - he's a small heavyweight and can be hurt, and Bellew has underrated boxing skills. I think the Price KO will motivate Bellew, he'll want to kill him in the ring for what he did to Price. Look, Bellew is a very hard puncher and has good recovery, he's been knocked down in his career and come back and also fought heavy punchers and won. I wasn't a believer, sometimes he comes across as a moron - but he's won me over in the last two years. He knows he can't beat big heavyweights but if he wants a good small one, Povetkin is the one he will beat.

Haye always dragged his leg , bad habit of his. Just watch his match vs Fragomeni for one such example

Was rooting for Haye, but today showed us he is completely shot. It's a combination of his injuries, age and the fact that he put on too much muscle in the recent years. His reflexes were completely gone and someone pointed out before the fight that his right leg looked like dead meat. Sad to see him go like this, but he probably needed the money badly.

I am not a fan of Bellew but he earns my respect, also mentioning that Haye was a better fighter than him. I am curious to see what's next for him. He showed us again that he is underrated.

On a side note, that makes me also think that is was the right moment for Klitschko to retire. The way Haye goes into retirement was painful to watch, while Klitschko went out as a hero.

Thanks for the beautiful fights and an excellent career David. Good luck in your career as a promotor.

Your right. Bellew may not be a ATG fighter, but he went there and did what he had to do. :chuck:

    Not really.

They were more or less landing at the same rate in the first two rounds. Haye's power shots were harder and little more eye-catching and that's what swung him those frames on my card, but Bellew was hardly being dominated and, in fact, did well enough to make both of them quite close.

Bellew was also on his way to winning the third, anyway, and probably would have begun to accelerate from that point forward. He might be an ass, but Bomber still looked the better technician in there even before the point where he started bouncing Haye off the mat.
