It is good for the" David Haye brand" to fight for the knockout. A 12 rnd borefest wasnt going to keep it afloat and that was ultimately his downfall tonight. Live by the sword.....

Basically went as expected. Haye hasn't been relevant in over half a decade, and his body can't handle the rigours of the sport anymore. Bellew is still in or very close to his prime.

Haye was definitely outlanding Bellew in the first two rounds. More jabs, Haye was controlling the fight. Bellew was not throwing too often. But it seemed like Bellew was just being cautious, taking his time and giving away those first two rounds.

Bellew certainly wasn't being dominated in the first two rounds, but Haye did land more punches and was controlling the action. It wasn't until the end of the 3rd round that Bellew really took control when he got Haye in trouble with that counter that caused David to retreat into the corner. (the 3rd round Bellew started throwing more and it forced David to take more chances which got him into trouble)

The writing was on the wall when it took Haye 3.5 years to recover from his injuries the first time out.....

Great fighter/puncher but he was never a brilliant boxer.

What did you guys think of the stoppage? I personally thought it was a bad stoppage. Haye was in trouble but his legs were not gone like the first fight, and he seemed to recover well between rounds.

Had the ref not decided to stop it when it did, I believe Haye may have well been able to fight on for several more rounds.

That surprised me, which seems silly considering the evidence. I just didn't think Haye would enter the ring in that state, or have the nerve to. I thought he had more left that that so he had me fooled. Based on what he did in his career I guess you cant begrudge him one last pay day bit surely thats it. A pretty humiliating end.

Haye was gone. And this time Bellew hadn't punched himself out like last time or had a broken hand.

based on that I cant see how Haye would have lasted the fight if he boxed. his only real chance was stopping Bellew early and going all out. the longer it went the more chance his body would break down.

Yeah, he could have been knocked down at least once a round for the next 6 rounds

The ref did everyone a favour

Not making excuses for haye , but seemed as though his leg were causing him pain, very stilt like movement in the latter rounds.
he told all who would listen he was in the best shape he has been for years...did he men his bank account?

Could have but he could have also knocked down Bellew. Haye is very heavy handed and when the ref stepped in there Haye didn't appear to be in any danger of being stopped. He was still defending himself intelligently. Bellew was wobbled early in the fight and Haye seemed to recover well in between rounds. I'm not saying Haye would have won, I just don't think it was a good stoppage. You look at Bellew's left eye was quite swollen, and given that Bellew had been going through a lot of personal stuff heading into the fight, just the fact that Haye while having gotten knocked down 3 times, he still had his feet under him and was moving around OK compared to the last fight.
