Some today consider Duran to be overrated because of late career loses to Benitez, Hagler, Hearns, which give them the impression that he lost to every quality fighter he met. But it is important to realize that all of those fights occurred when he was past the age of 30 and fighting 20 - 25 pounds over his own natural weight class against opponents who were both younger and natural to those higher weights. For perspective the equivalent of Duran fighting Hagler would be Sugar Ray Leonard at the age of 33 moving up to fight a prime Michael Spinks for the light heavyweight title. How do you think that would have gone? And I am not really sure that would have been the equivalent as it is debatable that Spinks was as great a light heavy as Hagler was a middlewieght. These are facts; at age 21 in his very first world title fight Duran took the belt from a future hall of fame champion winning 10 or maybe even 11 of the 13 rounds completed. During his years as a lightweight he held the championship for nearly 7 years, defeated 5 different fighters who were either former, current, or future world champions, and set a then record of KOs in 11 consecutive world title fights. At the time he faced Leonard in Montreal he had both the most impressive record of any fighter in the world as well as the most impressive list of opponents of any fighter in the world. And in case you have forgotten he beat Leonard in that fight - the only fighter to defeat Leonard while he was in his peak period. As for the rematch with Leonard in New Orleans it is clear that Duran was simply not physically prepared for that fight. Just take a look at the flab hanging down from under his arm when he is introduced and raises his left arm. It was Leonard's strategy from the beginning to use purse money to lure Duran back into the ring without enough time to be properly trained "becuase we knew he would not be at his best." Also take note that in Montreal while Leonard stopped using the jab after round four because every time he snapped it out Duran slipped it and rock him with a counter shot in New Orleans even a little poke jab from Leonard landed squarely. And despite Leonard being given an enormous ring to move around in and that he used it all Duran was still able several times to cut off the ring and work Leonard to the ropes. But unlike in Montreal he wasn't strong enough to keep him there. As Leonard himself said at ringside of the Duran/Benitez fight "when I fought Duran in Montreal he was very strong. when i fought him in New Orleans he was very weak."
SRL ???? Over rated??? .I would say Huck useless face first cave man .back yard German decisions .Steams my **** !!!
Lomachenko. He’s being touted as something we’ve never seen before but in reality he’s just a guy who got to start at the 50 meter mark in a 100 meter dash. That’s not breaking records. That’s agenda. Boxing is very desperate now. If there aren’t boxing superstars, you have to create one. Don’t get me wrong. Lomachenko is highly skilled but that skill wouldn’t be enough for guys like Mickey Garcia. His skill couldn’t transfer up to top opponents at WW. Don’t get too lost while you guys lose your mind on what the media is pushing. Lomachenko doesn’t even agree with all the praise.
Lomachenko is a featherweight/super featherweight, so why the hell you talking about Welterweight? Do you talk about Crawford vs Golovkin or Groves... He clearly looked far too small for lightweight had a huge reach disadvantage, yet he still knocked out the best lightweight in the world!- that is special. Only Mikey Garcia at lightweight can give him a fight so that's why he's your new hope. and Vasyl would still win, he always finds a way to win. Please tell me who the hell right now would beat Lomachenko at his weight of super featherweight or featherweight??!I bet you won't answer this. because absolutely nobody stands a chance because he is that damn good. Your hate for Vasyl is off the scale and based on race, you sound very unwell, you are embarrassing yourself on here. Ever since the fight at the weekend you've been posting obsessively hating on Loma like it's the end of the world. You sound unhinged. Go get some fresh air and do something productive with your life. It's highly likely Lomachenko is gonna be P4P number 1 for a very long time so think about your health. It's just a sport.
He’s 5’6/5’7 alt. You guys always try to make it like your fighters have the most insurmountable odds to overcome. I know you’re a guy from the lounge whose been permanently banned. Take some of your own life advice and do something productive with your life instead of making alts.
I would argue that because of his unique popularity and stature, a lot of which has nothing to do with boxing, it is very unlikely Ali isn't overrated.
Who cares about his height? There are weight divisions in boxing, not height divisions for a reason. And you are such a **** poster that you even got banned in the Lounge, let alone this forum.
