How do you rate Lomachenko's defense?

Well thats true, but what I'm saying is that if he wanted to fight like FLoyd, he would be the best defensive boxer in the world, but it wouldn't suit him as he only has 166cm reach.

 

the effectiveness of his defence is comparable to chavez sr, not in technique, but in the way he could slip enough punches to still inflict the most damage. offense first fighters with a good enough defense to allow them to do what they want to do, and thats beat you. history may repeat itself if mikey brings him up to 140, and gets a bull**** draw. pea wanted no part of jc at 140, got him to come up to 145 and beat him, but got that draw..

 

to lomas credit , its a tough task defensively to fight lilnares, u gotta take some to give some when u keep moving up in weight and then u fight a long rangy guy vs like linares

 

Lomachenko has fantastic defense, you can't hit him if he plays defense, but he mostly plays offense and still have fantastic defense. He does not get hit much...................compubox is full of crap!

 

Some people underrate his defensive game because it visually looks like he stays in the danger zone and takes a lot of punches. But the fact is he blocks most of them (his ability to block punches is one of the best in the game), slips punches and steps around his opponents, so it's not easy at all to catch him clean.

When fighting orthodox opponents, he may get hit with a proactive right hand (Linares&Martinez fights), and also he can be reckless on the inside at times (occasional episodes at Sosa&Mariarga fights). Looks a bit vulnerable to the body. His defense against southpaws is second to none so far - he made GRJ miss 90% of over 800 punches that he threw at him according to statistics, and personally I don't remember that GRJ caught him clean at any time of the fight.

So overall he has some rare flaws, but for a pressure fighter his defense is very good. The only concern is that I think aging will do him bad.
