Bigger by far. . . .Two undefeated, dominating World Heavyweight Title claimants. . . .a rarity in boxing (Ali vs Farzier I and Spinks vs Tyson and Joshua vs Parker). . . .Its huge but there should be more hype on the world's stage rather than just in boxing forums.
Not according to @OpinionOfACasual or @Mr Icaman They don't believe there's any evidence to suggest it does more buys than AJ/Parker! Now for wise people to discuss. Yes, it will be absolutely huge in the UK. Casual's are demanding this fight and they will lap this up big time. Hearn says this will smash UK PPV records even if it's 5am in the morning. I tend to agree. I also think it will do more than 600k USA buys which Is a figure I keep seeing people throw around. Even these MMA fans on those sherdog forums (weird place) are always talking about this potential fight.
UK fans won't travel to Vegas for Joshua like Hatton's Manchester fans. Joshua's fanbase is comprised of casuals and girls. The only ones who'll travel over are snobby rich IG posers and slags and they won't have half the atmosphere and passion that Hatton's fan's brought. You'll hear a few mindless "Oh Anthony Joshua" and "Sweet Caroline" chants from the pathetic crowd that would travel over.
Agree with this, Joshua has a lot of casual fans but not the hardcore support that hatton had. The core support that travel away in numbers are white working class and they won't travel for Joshua. Josh Warrington would take twice as many fans for a vegas fight than Joshua would
Who cares about fans ? Josh Warrington might take more fans but he is not going to make 1% of what Anthony Joshua will make if he goes to Vegas. Vegas dosent rely on Fans, it relies on Celebrities, Gamblers, Bankers and Casinos. If the Gate does not do well, it's irrelevant as if you've got US PPV to fall back on. Joshua would be a Absoulute idiot if he dosent take the fight in Vegas.
Hearn apparently just yesterday tweeted something to the effect of “IF”the fight happens, the UK fans would not have to travel And knowing that the 50 million offer made by wilder, and it’s reasonable to assume that since they made the offer, that they could name the venue, and we know they are wanting Las Vegas Sounds to me like it’s getting less likely to happen next
On the main page the article regarding this latest Hearn tweet states; “, Alabama would be a great venue for the Joshua vs. Wilder fight. Deontay packs in tons of his boxing fans when he fights in Birmingham.” LOL How many does he mean by “tons”? Did a teenage kid write this article?
It's unlikely AJ will persuade 40,000 Brits to fly over for his fight with Wilder, so in that respect I doubt it will be as big as Hatton vs Mayweather.
Your underestimating how patriotic Englishmen are, Tons of Brits are going to Russia, Eventhough they know England will probably get knocked out at the Group Stage and knowing Putin's KGB are after them baying for Blood. Trust me tons of Brits will fly out- they'll be scaring the Prostitiues away in Vegas with their bad teeth, and they will come in all confident, singing "oh anthony joshua" then 30 Minutes later, they will return back to their Shitty Island with AJ in A&E and then they will look for the next steriod-enfused Boxer to support...
I'm English. AJ will take a good few thousand out there no doubt, but not 40,000. Hatton was unique in that respect with the Manchester City aspect playing a big part in so many being drawn to support him. I would suspect 90% of those who flew out to the fight came from the Greater Manchester area and a shed load from the Hyde area alone. And he had that 'man of the people' appeal which AJ does not - he's more corporate. I feel. EDIT: England had the 8th greatest number of ticket-buying fans at the Brazil world cup in 2014, I read somewhere...
