Selby under rated Warrington and over rated himself

Warrington boxed great and followed a great game plan.

Props for Selby showing heart but he looks rubbish tonight . Very slow and ungainly.

Yeah really enjoyed that mate. Good fight two guys giving it their all in there. Both guys deserve credit...great performance by Warrington. Very surprised Selby stayed in their was predicting his demise from early doors. Think every round i was saying he's gonna get knocked out here. Sucked it up and gave it everything he had tho.

Before the fight I picked Selby, I was completely wrong, congratulations to Warrington, fought a great fight and I personally didn't have it that close.

I watched it in the pub, of course there was noise, talking, I was distracted here and there but I watched the fight and I had Warrington winning handily.

Warrington executed his game plan pretty much perfectly, it was simple but so very effective, Warrington started at an electric pace and set the tone, he closed the distance very quickly and closed that distance throwing punches and Selby didn't have an answer and more worryingly couldn't adjust, he seemed clueless on how to change the course of the fight, Selby just kept going backwards in straight lines with his chin up in the air, kept getting caught and was out worked and out fought.

I had it 9-3 Warrington, how it ended up a Split Decision I have no idea, maybe I need to watch it again and it will make sense to me.

Nah no need to watch it again, as a Selby supporter it was a clear landslide for Warrington even though Selby did land a good few killer bodyshots which some fans may have overlooked. Not enough to win the rounds though.

Now trying my best to stay awake for Adonis-Jack.

Yea saying he struggles at the weight now

Which does seem likely he was very slow all round and looked lethargic. But boiling down to get a size advantage is no excuse . You should fight people your own size .

I'm a Cardiff guy so gutted he lost but in some ways in as glad Warrington had his big night

Frampton would beat Lee and Josh though, wouldn't he? Based on what I saw last night ....Neither are in his league. Be a whole different ball game for Josh if he was in with Frampton.

I agree with this. You said it before the fight, too. Selby hasn’t looked good for a while. The mad thing is, I don’t think the 4ib jump is enough for him. It’s going to sound ridiculous but I think his natural division at his age & size is lightweight. Many world class fighters step up through the lower weight divisions as they get older. He neglected that & stayed where he is.
Jamie McDonnell is going to suffer the same fate in Japan. Bantamweight since 2005, he’s 32 now. It doesn’t just weaken the body, it weakens the mind including cognitive function.

Happy to be wrong here. Warrington showed heart of a lion. He was fighting like a maniac... rose to the occasion

Yeah think that's about the age range it starts to catch up with you mate. One good thing is at least Warrington's at the age he should get a few good years crack at it before he suffers a similar fate. That's when it becomes important to push them into the right fights. They basically waisted a lot of brooks career. Took the big step up at around the age the weight making has an effect...and had him fighting dross in a lot of his prime year fights. Looking through brooks cv...he was a better fighter than that.

Warringtons team knew selby was a 7rd fighter, they knew u couldnt let lee take them early rds and gain momentum. The strategy was bang on. And his early tactics of catch and counter worked a treat.

I agree, we have to give Warrington and his Team huge credit for getting it tactically spot on.

You have alluded to lee been able to beat carl in the past. You said that lees long arms and hit n move style would probably beat carl. Or words to that effect.
