Tyson Fury digging the bowels of Heavweight Divison and fights Sefer Seferi

One good opponent or not, he has beaten everone in the ring. He can walk the walk. He will knock out Seferi in a round or 2 then its on to the next one. 2019 will be Tyson Fury's year.

This guy could actually be a Deontay Wilder title defense.

Give Fury a break. He his test running his body after being off 2.5 years and losing 7 stone.

Hopefully Briggs next and title shot next year.

 

It's a decent choice.

His style's never been reliant on athleticism and speed but there's absolutely no doubt he'll have regressed as a fighter due to inactivity. At 29 and without injury being the cause of his absence there's a good chance the right arc of progression could get him as close to his previous form as possible.

That's what a fan should want - the best version of Fury in order to eventually give us the best fights possible. That wont happen in the space of a couple of fights.

The irony is that if he were just back for a cash grab it would be evident in the speed with which he looked to line up a big fight, which would likely be met with approval by the same people knocking him for this choice of opponent.

Personally, I'd like to see him fight at least 4 to 6 times before thinking about title level.

Not bad foe for a former drug cheat. Fury will probably wear lifts in his shoes and bill himself as 6 foot 11 like a proper circus freak.

 

This is exactly the sort of fighter you ought to be fighting after a 2 year layoff in which you became hugely out of shape. He's better than a journey man as well and has fought at HW. But the size disparity will be quite amusing at the weigh in

 

I'm surprised some are moaning to be honest.

He's had over two years out and promoters and BT sport want a return on their investments. He may have nothing left so they're not going to stick him in with someone who may expose that but only someone he'll look great against.

We know the score, Fury knows the score, Frank Warren knows the score, BT Sport knows the score and Seferi not only gets paid for being beaten by Fury but gets a nice holiday to the UK too.

This is boxing.

 

The difference is that Ali spent 3 years in solid training preparing himself for his return.

Tyson Fury spent the first 18 months eating and sniffing.

 

We all know Tyson's first fight back was always going to be a "gimme" against someone posing no threat. But did it really have to be so blatant? He's going to be 7 inches taller and at least 30lb heavier.

Understandable first up opponent. Durable, but has only been beyond 6 rounds once. No point Fury having taking a one round pushover fight when he needs rounds under the lights.
