Curls are useless for fighting training.

If you want a pratical excercise, that also happens to build biceps, do pullups / chinups.

Anyone of you highly educated posers, want to offer up factual proof on this misconception of weights and boxing, or are you just satisfied to type what you have heard others say?

Seriously it sickens me when I read a non educated members post, such tripe without even a hint of knowing what they are talking about

Can you explain how arm curls will help with anything?

i'm actually for weight training but i dont see a point of isolating a body part, especially the biceps, if you really want to work the bicep why dont you do chin ups?

any weight/resistance training program when done correctly will benefit the athlete at his or her sport, your muscles become stronger and more responsive, they get less fatigued due to the type resistance trainings

Chin ups or pull ups targets the lats more than the biceps, the biceps are hit secondary due to the arms working in the movement, no one does chin ups directly to target the biceps

Isolating a particular muscle or muscle group tunes that muscle as opposed to compound movements which incorporate assistance from many other groups,

so you don't see a reason to isolate one specific body part?

well most humans are more developed and or stronger on one side more than the other, this is normal and natural due to the body using one side more through out life, hence you are able to write your name with better penmanship with the right hand than the left

for example most right handed people have more strength and manual dexterity on their right side as opposed to the left, when it comes to boxing one is best when he is equal with both sides, targeting the weaker sides lets say the bicep will help even out the muscle in strength stamina, endurance and over dexterity

most automatic transmission vehicle drivers will have a slightly more developed right calf muscle from the constant accelerations and braking of their vehicle, which in most cases can be very visible when looked at, to bring that weaker left calf up to par with the right some basic isolation calf exercises with weights will do the trick

besides the above facts I will explain it to you like this, a boxer that wants to better his jab will focus on his jab and train and target the jab a bit more than normal to bring it up to par, that in itself is isolating the muscles involved with that specific punch
