I just watched Foreman vs Stewart for the first time. What a war! So many hard punches landed. Both landed over 50% of there punches. It was very close, I thought Stewart could easily have won the decision with the point deduction at the end. Very entertaining, both showed such heart. If Stewart was more confident from the get go he would have won this fight.

Probably the one fight I can’t watch again.

Something broke inside Foreman’s sinus and instead of pouring out his nose the blood/fluid just filled the cavity and swelled his face. You could actually hear it sloshing later in the fight when he got hit.

    Ugh.

First time watching for me as well.

Seems Stewart became the fighter to beat for moving up:
Holyfield ,Moorer , Tyson all stopped him. Not sure why Holy fought him twice. After that, Stewart was done, the other losses don't matter, IMO.

Foreman's face was very badly swollen afterwards.

Saw the for fight first time around ,I was transfixed by how much punishment both men took. Before the fight I had a feeling Foreman was going to smash straight through him ,maybe by the 4 the round. I just couldn't see Alex standing up to him for long. When he went down early ,my thought s were this is it .So for him to come back and do what he did ,I had respect for him.
I had the fight a draw first time watched it .When I saw it again a few years later I changed my opinion to Foreman very slightly. But a great 90 s battle ,up there with moorer v Stewart and Cooper .

There was rumour, and I repeat a rumour, that Stewarts gloves were loaded. This was spoken about a few years after the bout. Anyone else hear anything through the jungle drums?

I thinking Foreman didn't take him seriously at all. He showed no respect for Stewart's power. Stewart had a lot of knockout so he was a decent puncher. Foreman didn't even hold his hands up at times. He just thought he could walk through him and early, it looked like he would. I also think Foreman was really out of shape. He obviously was always a load but he was in condition. Here, he looked really blubbery. I've never watched the fight in it's entirety. I loved George and turned it off when he started to swell. I flipped back it was a horror movie. Just an awful fight.
