    Not the record, but 3 in a row is interesting: Axel Schulz fought for the IBF title 3 times in a row 95-96.

    Jameel McCline got a shot at all four major belts and lost every time:

    * Lost to Wlad for the WBO belt in 2002
    * Lost to Byrd for the IBF belt in 2004
    * Lost to Valuev for the WBA belt in 2007
    * Lost to Peter for the WBC belt in 2007

    * Lost to Vitali in 2009
