Funny how things can change round in boxing in a week or so? After getting totally sh1t on by BJS for pulling out of 2 fights back to back, spending his money on 2 camps etc. Now GGG has been stripped of IBF Belt, it would be a kind of poetic justice if Murray got a shot at the vacant belt. IBF Top 10 1. Sergiy Derevyanchenko 2. NOT RATED 3. Daniel Jacobs 4. Jermall Charlo 5. Demetrius Andrade 6. Tommy Langford 7. Martin Murray 8. Rafael Bejaran 9. Kamil Szeremeta 10. Luis Arias Not sure who would be avaiable within the timescales but Murray would give them all a good fight! - could even see an all british Langford v Murray for the belt; stranger things have happened!!
Would love to see that happen. Murray is a top bloke, always turns up to fight and never chats rubbish. Would love to see him go out on a high and fight Langford for the strap.
Derevyanchenko was the mandatory so it’s him vs whoever. I’d be shocked if it’s get 7th down the list before someone takes it!
AGREE it's a long shot - just think it would be a great ending for Murray! - looks like the IBF are going to order Derevyanchenko v Jacobs for vacant belt, but Jacobs could be taking the canelo fight for more money?!
it wont be Derevyanchenko v jacobs as they have the same trainer, Charlo is WBC mandatory and interim champion and cant see him abandoning that, now he is GGGs only mando, Andrade should take it though
In what world should that be for a world title? Langford just lost to Jason Welbourne. Add that to the fact it would be an awful fight to watch.
I'd think it would be nice for Murray to get a shot at the IBF belt instead, but I can't see it happening and I think that Not "F-in" Rated guy would have something to say about that. It's probably Derevyanchenko vs Jacobs, Charlo or Andrade. Shouldn't the WBO starting to think about stripping Saunders, by the way?
Like it's been said above, can't see someone else taking it before reaching Murrays name at 7th in the rankings. That said I'd like to see Murray get one last crack especially after being put through the mill by Saunders twice. He's not a world beater by any stretch - but he always comes to fight and is a game ****er. On the wrong end of a decision against Martinez, could have got the nod against Sturm but the decision didn't go his way and took GGG further than any man had prior to him. My only gripe is that he didn't let his hands go more in the Abraham fight which was more than winnable for him.
I don't know if you all realize this but it is the same situation as Pulev vs Whyte Derevyancheko has earned mandatory position, he is no1, there is no no2. Derevyancheko is guaranteed 75% against all of them That could easily see Langford getting the shot
