I think Jermain Taylor def would defeat calzaghe. he is more powerful and quicker. NOw that pavlik is out of his way taylor can resume things. i think he would be too much trouble for calzaghe

I defo give JT a good chance Vs. Calzaghe.
(Tho I think it will never hapen, Joe's plate is full)

His best Power punch is a "Straight Right hand" which is a great shot to throw while countering against a fighter of Joe's style (just like B-Hop did)
Taylor is faster than Bernard, Younger than Bernard ect...

I wouldn't count Taylor out so quickly. Jermain would not allow Joe
to pressure him into a corner like Bernard, and Taylor is not Lacy.
If this was made at Super Middleweight I'd put some on Taylor.

Sorry, but this is an extremely limited view. You are basing a fight putcome exclusively on one fighter's strengths and the other fighter's weakness. With this type of analysis, Chris Byrd must a favorite against Wlad and Hatton would starch PBF. Sure, Taylor can box some and is athletic. He also has stamina problems, a lack of focus and has rarely fought well for an entire fight. Joe, when faced with a tough opponent, has always adjusted and taken over the second half of the fight with his adaptability, relentlessness and workrate. Joe is fights hard for every half - minute of every round and never tires. Taylor fights well in spurts and needs to take breathers to do so. You say Taylor wouldn't let Joe pressure him? What is he going to do when he tires and Joe throws his 20 punch combos? Nobody has ever been able to enforce their gameplan against Joe in the second half of a fight, not Kessler, who is bigger, more solid and consistent than Taylor, not Hopkins who started well against Joe, nobody. And you think Taylor with his ring ADD and stamina issues can do it????

 

I was not trying to do a play by play view of a fight..
I was mearly saying that Jermain Taylor is a live opponent for Calzaghe.
He deserves the respect of a former Middleweight champion.

Bottomline is, Taylor is not Lacy, Not bernard, Not Kessler.
And Calzaghe is not Pavlik. Styles, bro Styles.

 

No style has worked against Calzgaghe so far. Taylor was beaten in the rematch with Pavlik simply by Pavlik's consistency, workrate, stamina, all departments where Calzaghe excells.

Bottomline is, Taylor is no better than Bernard or Kessler, who had good styles to be competitive against Calzaghe.

Taylor has absolutely nothing for Calzaghe. What did he struggle with against Pavlik? The jab, the work-rate. Calzaghe is better than Pavlik in both departments, and is a southpaw which makes it even more awkward for Taylor to establish his jab

Taylor doesn't have the power to hurt him either, and doesn't time his counterpunches as well as Hopkins for example, so the counters are not a big threat to Calzaghe. It will be simple for Calzaghe to set a fast pace, and let Taylor's stamina do the rest. Add in the intangibles of Calzaghe's adaptability and ring IQ, and this is a no brainer

Calzaghe isnt a knockout puncher, so Jermain probably wouldnt b knocked out. JT does have decent power and speed, good height a great jab. WHy couldnt he pull it off. Hes not fighting Pavlik, some1 with devastating power who after a while of gettin hit you might get KO'd, or fighting a wild veteran in Bernard hopkins who is very cagey. ANd BTW he beat Bernard not 1nce but 2wice, and didnt look as bad as Calzaghe did.
Jus b/c Calzaghe is undefeated means JT has no shot. Nutthuggery ahs reached an all time high. JT would have a shot IMO. He dont have to think much, Calzaghe is a volme fighter that comes 4ward, and I think at 168 or 175 JT could probably win, not sayin he would, but he would have a shot IMO
