Another thing I've noticed is he seems to have lost his edge, his rebellious instinctive nature seems to have abandoned him along with the killer instinct in the ring. I have no problem with fighters having good will towards one another, but when you are touching gloves after evert punch, smiling and even kissing your opponent it's not good at all Even with the media he's become all too friendly with, the same snakes that dragged his name through the mud and now's happy to oblige them all, even sending out messages to Prince Harry celebrating the royal wedding. I'm struggling to warm to this pc friendly Fury. It bit like how they reprogrammed the badass robocop and turned him into a SJW gaylord. This content is protected
So called novice Nathan Gorman looked far better than Fury tonight - excellent combo's and accurate punching . Fury looks unstable physically and mentally frankly.
i agree, however peter was the one filming him and egging him on talking about bestiality or some other stupid thing not long after some controversial video had just been released and caused him grief in the media. although overall tysons success was down to peter, and he was a positive influence on him, he seems a very good trainer in his own right also. the saddest thing for me is that tyson seemed a genuinely nice guy with a young family, a good mate of mine lived a few doors from him so we saw him quite a lot many years ago, but he also looks to have had some serious baggage family wise, and it seems they've dragged him down rather than support him. the best i can hope for him is to be happy and healthy, whether he boxes or not isnt important. yeah, id love to see him come back and beat everyone but its getting harder to like or support what is unfolding.
I'm sure Peter Fury wasn't perfect and far from an angel himself, but he knew how to get Fury in the right frame of mind for a fight. I remember against Kevin Johnson how he guided him through the rounds to remain focused even though he was dominating the fight. His attitude and respect for the sport rubbed off on Fury. Of course in the past Tyson was having a laugh but when it came down to business he wouldn't be bum chums with his opponent or the media. Even with Chisora rematch he mercilessly put a clinic on him and played the villian role to the end, even though they were good friends. I can't see it ending well with Ricky Hatton guiding him and some young buck trainer who is only there for the pay check. Ricky Hatton the worst of them all who only cares about no 1. We've seen how he treated Lucas, he will have no qualms with using someone like Fury for his own gains until he has been bled dry. It's always best to have family in your corner, not these kind of snakes and former coke addicts who would batter their own fathers in back alley car parks. If they can do that to their own flesh and blood what kind of loyalty can you expect?!
the big question is whether tysons close family care about him or their own self promotion. it was only his uncle peter that got him to where he was once his dad got locked up and was out of the picture. for all peters faults he is a very good trainer who isnt messing around and turned tyson into the world champion. and tyson has basically replaced him with a load of gobshites
Well I certainly hope so. Though like another poster pointed out, he didn't look all there in the head tonight. And ricky Hatton who has his own battle with addictions as well as selfish interests, isn't the best influence to be around if we're being brutally honest.
I was surprised wicky looked like he was part of his team. His energy isn't good for a fighter to be around. That whole ricky fatton/one of the lads malarchy was pure low life chavism. And a man who turns on his parents (who guided his career) isn't worthy of respect. Likewise the way he messed up by betraying graham before the pacman fight was nasty. Tyson really needs to join a serious team like either peter or the ingle mob. There's too much at stake.
He's 'just' about young enough to turn it around and get back to the top in my opinion. But I can't see it happening under 'trainer' Ben Davison. The sooner he gets a genuine trainer and a serious training regime the better chance he's got. Unfortunately, speaking as a Fury fan, I see him leaving it all too late. I hope I'm wrong..
It is what it is. Rehabilitation isn't pretty. I'd bet anyone who saw him behind closed doors in the early days of his comeback would probably be viewing things with the perspective needed. In an ideal world he'd be out on the undercard of every show going. No fuss, no glare, just a steady grind on the right curve. Instead, he's front and centre and it's all a bit pantomime. From coming out to Afroman to mugging his way through the fight. It's possible he has the focus required to wear both hats but it's a surefire way to get people baying for fights he wont be ready for. He has an awful lot of ground to regain but the fight wasn't without glimpses of speed and timing that could very easily have eroded away completely. Better to judge him after 3 or 4 outings. I'd definitely agree he needs Peter back, maybe not at this stage but soon.
First thing in the morning I m going to the bookies to see what odds I m getting for fury to beat Joshua. Got all the tools to beat him. Surprised people are taking this first fight back seriously. Massive problems there tho. Tyson needs to get down to business. Have fun in the build up by all means....doesn't matter what level your at tho someone will chin you eventually if you act the idiot. I still think he knows what he's doing. Stick him in with Joshua he won't be playing about. He will fight to his level. Always has. Needs another four or fight fights in quick successon against nobodies first. Get the weight down...he,ll beat them all. Even with a fitness trainer.
