Now he has taken care of Horn I expect him to pursue the other title holders. Only problem is it’s very rare for the best top rank 147 fighters to fight the best PBC 147 fighters. Crawford has to get with Al if he wants these unifications I fear.
Before Crawford steps in with the truly elite of 147, he should maybe take one more fight at this weight against a solid contender but nobody crazy. A fight against Amir Khan or Lamont Peterson comes to mind. He beats one of those guys in solid fashion, he will be ready for Spence/Thurman after.
Amir khan is a good fight for Crawford next or Ugas. Peterson was beaten up badly by Spence I don’t really think a title shot straight away would make sense and tbh no one would give him credit for beating up Peterson at this point.
That's true, but Linares is more seasoned and battle tested than Horn. Linares was also more physically imposing on VL than Horn was on Bud. Linares had a significant reach advantage on VL, approximately 3 ½ inches, whereas Bud had a 2 inch reach advantage on Horn. When your opponent has that great of a reach advantage, flash knockdowns can happen. So stylistically, I think it was a more difficult matchup for VL to take on Linares than it was for Bud to take on Horn. Both Linares and Horn had success on VL and Bud, and both VL and Bud were impressive. Horn did land several clean right hands on Crawford in the early rounds, and several combinations when he got inside. I don't see how Bud really decimated Horn. Bud didn't really hurt Horn to the extent that VL hurt Linares with that brutal body shot. It was unclear if Horn was even going to be stopped. If anything Horn just looked exhausted like his energy level wasn't right. The body shots surely were contributing to that, but I don't think decimated was the right word. Bud was impressive, but he was getting hit and though he may not have lost a round, several of the rounds were close. Even as late as round 7, while Bud seemed to take that round over in the 2nd half, was a round that Horn started well and may have been winning the round at the half way point. Your "truth" I think is a little misleading. Horn is a solid fighter, but comparatively and given the reach advantage / disadvantage involved, it's not exactly a 1:1 comparison. Given the reach advantage, I think it's fair to argue that Linares was a tougher matchup stylistically for VL than Horn was for Bud. The knockdown of VL was noteworthy, but outside of the knockdown, both Linares and Horn had similar levels of success overall. The difference though was that Linares had better stamina than Horn had and a much better reach advantage, two things that can't be ignored. And finally, if you are going to compare both performances, you have to also consider that VL had a much more impressive knockout of Linares with the body shot than Bud had on Horn. VL brutalized Linares to the body leading to a more legit stoppage, whereas Bud's stoppage of Horn was premature / questionable.
140 is one of the weakest divisions in the sport. A glass jawed mediocre Namibian held 2 titles there. So you watch his fights (you forgot to mention that Linares outboxed DeMarco before he got cut) and you came to the conclusion that Linares is on Jeff Horn's level. OK dude, whatever.
Linares had lost by KO 3 times before Loma to nobody of significance. His best performance is a life and death win over Luke Campbell. Damn you guys are so desperate and gullible.
And Jeff Horn's only notable performance is when he beat the corpse of Manny Pacquiao in a controversial fight which is about as meaningful as Kevin McBride beating Tyson.
Okay if that’s the case let’s when we next get an undisputed champ at 140, you think it will be soon? Yeah he did outbox De Marco I was gunna mention it but it’s not a big deal to outbox De Marco, i think it shows his level that he was outboxed by Mitchell though. Linares is absolutely of Horns level, not from the eye test because he way more technically gifted but he isn’t as durable as horn. Horn stops Linares styliscally, it would go as exactly like the de Marco fight, he would be too rough and rugged and Linares would gas out. It’s a bad style match for him, there’s a reason why Linares shamelessly ducked Zlaticanin.
I will be impressed when he beats in the same fashion Spence or Thurman or Brook because i dont rly rate Garcia and Porter.Or if he beats even faded Pac in impresive fashion.
The thing you have to take into account was Horn never took a round off Crawford let alone dropped him. Linares was drawing on the cards till that 10th round, it was blow out for Crawford up until that stoppage.
Lool wow that is crazy, so the only time you are impressed with a fighter is when they beat a p4p guy in there division without losing a round? It’s also bizarre that you would be more impressed with him beating manny Pacquiao than him beating the man who beat Pac. So what your saying is your not impressed with any fighter in the sport if that is your criteria.
I think Crawford and Loma are the two top guys in the sport, whichever order you have them is up to you but one thing I can’t stand is when fans of the other guy tries downplay the others achievement. Neither of them have beaten an A level name and if they have then they didn’t fight those guys at their best.
The stoppage was horrible, horn could have easily made it all 12 rounds. Crawfords power and finishing skills are overrated. He had postol hurt and still couldn't get the job done. Lomachenko is finding ways to stop his opponent. Crawford had the perfect opponent in front of him last night to show off his skills on and wasnt even that impressive, he did a lot of running and holding. I feel like even old manny pac hurt horn worse.
not tremendously. He is a well established fast young fighter who most people thought could beat Horn. If he does this to Canelo for example, I would be very surprised.
Whilst the stoppage was premature, Horn was finished he took about 5 unanswered shots. How do you run and manage to stop your opponent lol, Crawford has horn on the ropes in the 9th and horn did all the holding. Loma stopped a guy who has been stopped 3 times before that and Crawford stopped a guy who has never been stopped and he didn’t it with out dropping a round or getting dropped and you criticise one and praise the other?
