Does anyone know what happened with Peter and Tyson? Must be something serious... I know there's bit and bobs in interviews but no definitive answer. Ben Davison and Tyson just doesn't look like it'll work for me. I remember Davison being comical for Billy Joe in Scotland and every time he's on IFL it just seem's Tyson is taking the **** out of him. I can't see Fury getting anywhere close to the top without a strict corner team.
I assumed - or hoped - that Davidson was just being used until he got into his old shape, then he'd get a more proven trainer in. But I haven't heard as to why he and Peter split
The last thing Tyson needs is yes men. Needs Peter back asap. If not going to happen, what about the Ingles.
Its an easy set up to criticize. But tbf to Ben he,s at least got him on the right path. There's no comparison between peter and Ben. But the reality is Tyson wasn't getting anywhere with peters methods. He was almost too far gone to work with a serious trainer. Bens at least getting him on the right track with his methods. I think the ingles are a great shout. I say he should stick with Ben atm till hes nearer serious competition shape tho. Keep sticking him in with soft touches. But by the time the hard fights come round if he ever gets that far their gonna need to get an experienced strong minded guy in running the show. I think leaving Ben would be a mistake atm. The corner with hatton etc....isnt a bad corner for where hes at. People call them yes men....but its exactly what hes needing...the encouragement these guys will give him. It will only get him so far....but that's all that's needed atm.
Fury’s got an inexperienced 25 year old trainer “who’s a good laugh” as he said the other day, his mad dad the eye gouger and a manic depressive Hatton in his corner...what could go wrong?
If davison is so good how come bjs isnt still with him. Fury snr saying that in a few yrs ben will be one of the top trainers in the world, im not avin it. Whats his boxing credentials anyway does anyone know? Sat night was a missed oppertunity as far as im concerned. Peter would of been going in with goals of whay they wanted to come away with at the end of the fight and rds of the best quality taking everything into consideration. You cant tell me that team fury milked sat night for as much personal growth as poss.
Davison has done a tremendous job shifting what weight he has done so far. Now he should be moved a side. It’s the harsh reality of it. He does appear to be a yes man and there because Fury can half do what he wants with him.
Fury looks like garbage, physique wise. Waist like a dustbin lid and not particularly muscular looking arms and legs, even for a chap of his dimensions. It's almost like he's producing too much estrogen. It's hard for anybody to commit to constant weight loss, let alone the mercurial Tyson Fury. If he comes into his next fight looking the same, he's done. I don't think he respects this Davidson much, in fact I don't think Fury and BJS respect anyone much tbh, their ego's are through the stratosphere of late going by their interviews. I don't really think Davidson cares mind, he's still getting paid ATM and his profile is rising as a result. 25 is very very young to be in a cynical game like boxing training however. In conclusion, as has been stated previously here, his corner seems full of sycophantic yes-men, which is about the worst possible dynamic for Fury at the moment.
A friend of mine knows Ben Davidson reasonably well and mentioned the split from Peter was actually due to a falling out between Tyson and Hughie.
Ah but don't forget he's got Ronnie O'Sullivan as his sports psychologist so he'll be fine. lol you really couldn't make it up.
Tyson needs strict structure in place. He definitely needs peter back. None of this.. Ooh, Ben is a fun guy to be around is going to end well. You can see how its affected him already, he's acting sillier than ever... A 25 year old 'mate' in his corner is certainly not what fury needs.... And he needs to realise that....fast!
Personally I think Fwank picked completely the wrong opponent for his first fight. He’s slaughtered Tyson on the back of it and for someone who’s open about having been depressed beyond normal Fwank basically could have steered him there again because whatever’s said Tyson will hear what’s being said on the streets. What was wrong with picking a 6’4 journeyman to hammer, even if it was an early stoppage it would have been credible, but fighting a camp dwarf that he cuddled and kissed before fighting was a bad bad bad promotional move. Ben........well all I can say is any top decent cornerman not even top trainer would have read the riot act to tyson for turning the fight into a circus act. Instead he was talking tactics to someone who you could tell wasn’t listening to a word. So jury’s out for me cos he seems totally out of his depth so far but let’s give him a chance.
