I have no prob with the guy, I just dont like when dudes make him out 2 the best thing since slice bread. Like I said Power will only carry you 2 a certain extent. Unless he gets better defense and lateral movement, his day soon come. I dont h8 the guy, he goes out there and takes care of business. That I can respect, but just call it for what it is. I seen some posters saying he is an ATG and all kind of foolishness, that I cant stand

IMO he would beat Kessler but Hopkins 3 years ago would outbox him easy.

I dont dislike him but personally, I prefer fighters that show more emotion in the ring with alot more explosivess. Pavlik is very calm and fights in a step-by-step manner. Very good but not very eye pleasing for me, I like his power though.

Kelly has the same type of down to earth everyman regular joe personality than does Great Britains Ricky Hatton, aswell as being cracking good fighters. Its why they are liked as much as they are!

Nothing Kelly does looks particularly impressive in the ring.

That being said, he is one of these guys with the style that seems to be taking over...high workrate with a big punch. Kelly is like Manny Pacquiao with boxing fundamentals. He throws tons of punches, and throws everything correctly. He doesn't have amazing speed and yet he DOES have amazing accuracy with his shots. He has crippling power to boot.

He may not look impressive, but neither did Monzon. Pavlik may be on top for awhile...

But I do think he needs to fight either Abraham or Kessler next, or soon. Those two are A+ grade fighters, IMO and could very well upset Pavlik. I'd pick Kessler over him, personally and I think the Abraham fight could be a toss-up.

Lots of great posts giving KP the credits he's due.

Good comments, EAxis. I wanna see him fight Abraham, also. Yeah, I guess you could say its a 50/50 fight. Like the PolishPummler said the other day on another thread...

50% chance KP wins by KO & 50% chance he wins by UD.

    I like that math!:!:

I never, EVER said KP has one-punch KO power. His style is to rock 'em & then finish 'em.

If Kessler didn't want any part of Miranda, why on earth would he want to fight the Pavlik?

We all know what KP did to Miranda. 1 +1 = another defeat for Kessler.

    Nobody dislikes Kelly Pavlik.

He's one of my favourite current fighters.

Unfortunately there exists a community of people on ESB who feel that if people didn't consider Pavlik top ten P4P after beating Taylor, then elevate him into the top five after his quelling of the mighty Lockett, then that constitutes dislike.

I think its fair to say that Kessler simply chose the quicker route to a title rather than 'duck' Miranda. I think he'd be game for Pavlik given that he was willing to fight Joe C.

Battle of the hard hitters! Would be a good fight! And a pick 'em fight for me!

Pavlik also steamrolled right through Miranda which the things you typed in your post could also be about.

Maybe thats all Kessler wants, is a belt & to maintain possesion of his cranium.

But let me ask you this. If you were a fighter & management said you have 2 choices...to fight either Calzaghe or Pavlik, who would you pick?

    :huh

I think the choice is obvious. That is, if you value your senses.

Before I answer this - I have already said that I consider Pavlik to be a good talent

    BUT

Given that one is linear and recognised Suppermiddle and lightheavyweight champ (and P4P #2) and the other is a relatively untested MW champion having beaten only average opposition - I'd have to say that I'd be looking with big big eyes at Calzaghe.

For me Kessler v Pavlik is perfect for Kelly to prove his talent against proven opposition. And it would suit Kessler as its another big name!
