That's an old story, from 2007, but it shows that boxer can be full of all imaginable PEDs and still pass all the pre-fight and post-fight tests easily.

Heavyweight contender Jameel (Big Time) McCline, set to fight for Samuel Peter's interim WBC title tomorrow night, received more than $12,000 worth of steroids, human growth hormone and related drugs over a 21-month period, the Daily News has learned.

According to a source familiar with the clinic that supplied the drugs, McCline, 37, the first boxer connected to the ever-expanding Signature Pharmacy scandal, first started receiving shipments of steroids in March 2005, and received them until last December. Signature's Orlando facility was raided by Albany, Florida and federal agents in February for its part in a national prescription drug distribution ring.

Ron Scott Stevens, chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission, said last night that he would have to consult with the state Attorney General's office to see whether tomorrow night's bout at Madison Square Garden will be affected by the revelation, especially as the shipments stopped in December.

"He's never tested positive in New York," Stevens said. "He fought Chris Byrd here at the Garden (Nov. 13, 2004, losing a split decision) in a title fight and we tested him before and after the fight and he came up clean."

Don King, who is promoting the fight, could not be reached for comment.

McCline's manager, Scott Hirsch, reached late last night, said McCline had gone to bed, but doubted that his fighter had used performance-enhancing drugs.

"I've never heard anything about this. I don't believe it's true," Hirsch said. "It's just so ridiculous. I just can't believe it. It doesn't make sense from what I know about Jameel. He's a clean-living guy. It would really shock me. I don't believe it to be true. This is his fourth world champion fight and he's never tested positive for steroids. He fought in Switzerland for a title fight back in January and he was tested extensively and he was clean."

Doping experts would quickly note that saying an athlete has never failed a drug test is faint praise; doping tests are famously easy to beat. Even if the NYSAC is able to get records from the Albany County DA's office showing what McCline received, officials were not sure there was any action they could take.

    .......

McCline's prescriptions were supplied by Infinity Longevity, an anti-aging center in Boca Raton, Fla., which also supplied drugs to Chris Benoit, the professional wrestler who killed his wife, his son and then himself earlier this year.

Among the drugs he received were heavy-duty steroids like testosterone, Stanozolol and Nandrolone, along with human growth hormone and Tamoxifen, an estrogen blocker taken by steroid users to keep them from developing feminine physical characteristics.

McCline, a Port Jefferson, L.I., product who stands 6-6 and about 270 pounds, was a favorite among some boxing fans for his story as an ex-con who became a journeyman fighter, then suddenly rose to the elite ranks.

You just need fluids from a IV to help you pass.

I can only speak for myself but unless proven to be a drugs cheat by failing a test i dont feel it is right to be accusing them. Ive felt Canelo is a drugs cheat for a good few years now but i have kept it completely to myself and never used it whilst arguing against the Mexican even in the most heated of debates. But now he has been busted i have no problems ripping him for it in any way i can and as much as i can.

People are convinced Anthony Joshua is a PEDS cheat because they have seen his body, he is being tested by 2 serious organisations and hasnt failed anything. No way am i going to completely dismiss the idea he "could" be on the Peds because the OP shows it can happen, but until there is some proof i will never accuse him of being one. A few spots and a bloated belly isnt guna be enough for me, i get those things and i dont touch the peds.

Biggest ever example is Manny Pac, Never really proven he was, never really proven he wasnt, the signs suggest he clearly was but the poof suggests he wasnt. So its not proven so i just cant dismiss his career and achievments bacause he showed a few signs that he "could" be. But then you get Floyd Mayweather getting caught with an IV hanging out of his arm because he got so dehydrated losing 2 ounces in 3 months, he hasnt failed any tests but what he did was cheating and he got caught doing it and had it swept under the carpet. That man is a drugs cheat.

i dont think anybody thinks passing all tests means you couldnt possibly be a cheat, but failing them sure removes the doubt.

    Failing exposes you, passing doesn’t

But yes, passing doesn’t automatically mean you’re clean and honest, but it also means there’s no proof that you’re a cheat either

Literally any fighter could be or could have been on peds, That includes my boy floyd, Nobody knows 100% however people will pick and choose who they label a drugs cheat weather they fail or pass a test, Guy's can be in their mid to late 30's still dominating and be labeled clean where a guy in his physical prime, test levels naturally at all time high can be labeled a cheat despite neither failing a test.

Ironically the guy's who get labeled a cheat always magically and coincidentally be fighters that the accuser dislikes and hates.

If a bum like Jameel (Big Time) McCline can pass the test while full of peds, assume EVERYBODY is doing it.

That’s very honourable of you and I get where you’re coming from, all I can say re this is that for those whose job it is to scrutinise then they should absolutely do it and use every means possible to bring out the truth as we all remember Lance Armstrong and Marion Jones, just a few examples of dopers who thought theyed beat the system as theyed never tested positive.
We can’t point the finger at everyone but in Canelos case many pros have come out and said they suspected him for years, add to this him refusing to show his weight on the night and times he’s fought with no drug testing in place or rather the one that matters, builds a picture imo of someone being less than honest.

Just shows what we already knew though about drug tests being easy to beat,HGH is gone the same day though in Clenbuterol it looks like they’ve found something they can test for if tested early like Canelo, just so happens they all know now they have a ready excuse for that stuff.

Very true but really, this shouldn’t come into it,wether it’s a good looking boy like Golovkin or an annoying diva like Canelo, both are just as likely to use imo.

I have had a lot of interest in this subject over the last three decades as I studied drugs in sport at college during the early days
The findings in the OP are probably accurate but we need to understand it is based on findings from 11 years ago In addition to that PEDS testing was probably 3 years behind in 2007 So we could even say this is based on 15 year old technology
While the technology has progressed to hide drugs in the body so has the technology the testers use
The testers are gaining more and more knowledge mostly from their experience from PEDS in professional cycling
Personally with my unprofessional knowledge and experience these fighters would not get away with it today
Look at Lance Armstrong and remeber he was the fastest bike boy on drugs . The other 5 or 6 hundred in his era got away with it because they were not high profile enough . There are at least 15 known pro cyclist from the Armstrong era that got away with it and walked away with millions and will live the rest of their life in luxury and will never need to work again
Now apply this to every sport from 1980 to 2010 and the problem was way ,way out of control .

Take EPO on a bike or on the track you could kill yourself
Take EPO in the ring you might kill yourself still but there is a good chance you will kill somebody else

Iv'e been guilty of bias my self in the past but as i get older wiser and more mature the more i let go of that nonsense, Every guy at the top of the sport is just as likely to be using as any other.

Just because a girl comes across as sweet, innocent and shy, doesn't mean shes not a total dirty freak in the bedroom.

But its not worth it because people thought they could get way with it in 2007 and last year they went back got the old samples and tested them with the new TEC and banned them
Devons Joe Pavey got awarded the world bronze medal 10 years later because they applied new testing to old race samples ! You might pass on fight night but you might get fined years later and your rep tanished when you are too old to do anything about it

    Thanks for the link.

Lance Armstrong passed 500, yes 500 drug tests folks.

He now admits he was doping all along.

I tend to see a pattern emerging when I see people who believe that doping is a one off in pro-sports.

They tend to be very middle-aged, and usually have never engaged in any sport where taking PED's offers an advantage.

Anyone who has ever set foot in a weights gym for any decent amount of time knows almost instinctively how rife PED's are in sport, as the differences in performance are so profound even just doing damn dumbell curls, let alone fighting life and death for millions, in front of millions.

I’m convinced most high level athletes are at it. The rewards of top level sport are huge and they will do it if they know the tests are easily beaten. Which they were and still are. If anyone’s interested read ‘The secret race’ by Tyler Hamilton - Lance Armstrong’s former team mate on US Postal. You wouldn’t believe some of the stuff Armstrong was doing and getting away with.

Just recently it came out Bradley Wiggins was at it albeit under the cover of a therapeutic use exemption. Every athlete will puss the boundaries to get an edge and unfortunately that means most will cheat.

Floyds IV thing was a joke to me. They just brushed that under the carpet because he was worth too much money to them.
