I wish he would have wrote an Autobiography. He was featured on A&E biography yrs ago which I taped and lost. He did write a book of poetry of all things. I'm not a poetry guy at all I mean zero but because I'm a Palance fan a bought a used copy on Amazon for a few bucks and low and behold it was signed by him dedicated to someone. Yrs later when I bough Basilio's Onion Farmer book used that was signed too!. Neither book was advertised as signed as they cost considerable more $$$

 

Lol - sounds like you have good luck buying used books! Sadly, pretty soon used books are going to be the only books available

 

My wife got my a kindle which I'll use for books I'm semi interested in. But boxing biography and other interests I have, I need to have real books in my bookcase

As a Christian, I've always been moved by Anthony Quinn's take as Barabbas in the 1961 film. When Tony goes to Rome in the 3rd act, Jack's "Torvald" is pure unadulterated EVIL!

I saw that Palance "Hyde" version on TV back in 1968 while in College......50 years ago this year. "Barabbas" was back in the days when all kinds of "Bibical" era movies came out....and then of course you had Liz Taylor as Cleopatra, with the t@'s-t@'s out on display.

 

Rough crowd .. it birthed Chuck Bednarik and Charles Bronson .. rough guys ..

Palance was a Ukrainian Bednarik a Slovak Bronson was mostly Russian not Lithuanian as reported in most sources.
PA also had .
Mike Ditka Ukrainian Joe Namath a Hungarian not to mention a host of Fighters Zivic a Croation Greb a German sn so on an so forth.
PA was a real hub for immigrants especially Eastern Euro's who worked in the coal and steel industries.
Just find it rather interesting as a first generation American myself.

If you don’t know Chuck Bednarik google him. One of the hardest men to ever play in the NFL. Brutal guy.

 

I love Palance!! He used to host Ripleys believe it or not and he was hilarious while explaining what the next story was going to be about. He kind of went into a zone, got very excited and a little crazy explain it. He was really one of a kind. And the one arm pushups at over 70, Freakin amazing!
