Good rebuilder for Fury, but I wish Pianeta would retire. He had cancer and needs to let his body rest.

 

In my opinion its a very poor opponent. Anyone getting beaten over 7 rounds v a shot Kevin Johnson is a very low heavyweight.

 

Fury made it clear in his last few interviews that he has no plans to fight anyone remotely decent until Joshua or Wilder.

He said he's still got it and doesn't need to prove anything. Apparently he just needs to 'sharpen his tools' and get the weight off.

'It is what it is', as the big guy would say. Glorified sparring matches that pose virtually zero risk, and then Joshua or Wilder. And it's only going to be Wilder if Wilder beats Joshua first.

 

Good second opponent, not really great but good enough considering the circumstances with what Furys body has been put through.

 

With only boxrec to provide a background to Pianeta, my initial thoughts are this is an step in the right direction. First and foremost he is a genuine heavyweight, size issues were what seemed to get most people's backs Up against Seferi.

Secondly there are at least some names on his record which Warren can help use to sell the event. Being in there with Klitscko etc

 

Be interesting to know if this was the oppenent they were announcing on Monday tbf

Pianeta is a good dude. Hope he has earned himself a few quid for taking this fight.

Not a chance did we think his opposition would be THIS poor.

These guys are terrible.

 

I don't really understand what the issue is to be honest? People are acting as if they are drafting in bums but trying to sell them as world beaters. If they were doing that, fair enough I could get people being angry about it. But they have said from day 1, he will have 3 or 4 fights with easy opponents, get him back in the ring in front of a crowd, back on the pro scene, getting paid which boxers need to do to fund training camps and their lives.

If he wasn't fighting these guys he'd still be training for his comeback, not getting paid yet still paying his staff and funding his existence. It's not viable and if anything that could have seen him just jack it in. This way, he stays focused, gets paid and keeps making progress and the best thing is we get to see him in action as he makes his way back in to contention. I'm more than happy to give him his 3 or 4 'bum fights' as long as we see him step it up after that.

My only worry is that Frank keeps him on the leash too long and after these initial tune ups the real come back starts and he's fighting 'names' but still guys that aren't good enough to tie his shoes. It needs to be 3 or 4 of these and then top 10 opponents in my book.

 

What is your point? You're acting as though Hearn predicted the lotto numbers. Heard told us what we already knew. That Tyson was going to fight a few soft touches in the opening few fights of his return. Guess what? Hearn isn't the only one who gave us the obvious prediction. A certain F.R.A.N.K W.A.R.R.E.N. also stated factually that Fury's first few fights would be soft. And so what if they are? Rushing him back in any way would be reckless. We know what's happening and we've been told what's happening. So why are people complaining? Above all, it's the correct way to bring Fury back, after all his body and mind have endured in a near three year absence.

This was a bad choice of opponent. I picked the choices I would have made in another thread- someone undefeated or close to it, and someone you could have built some hype against.

Pianeta is path that is well worn, and has been KTFO and beaten many times by average fighters. This is just as bad as the Seferi fight.
