I absolutely agree that age has a way of tempering a man and changing ones view. Now that I’m older I’ve come to appreciate others accomplishments and respect them. I couldn’t stand mayweather as his “money” persona but now I get it. As I’m in and approaching middle age I regret not having made the most of my talents, lucky breaks, circumstances etc. This doesn’t mean that I have to like Ward or Floyd’s or Clenelo’s styles or personalities but I respect them for maximizing their careers. I’ve said before, I don’t begrudge Floyd, Manny, Holyfield, Roy, JMM, Toney, Alvarez etc for using PEDs - I wish there were PEDs for the construction industry.

 

No! One of the best fighters of the era and arguably the most mentally tough to. Took on a real killer in Kovalev got dropped didn't blink keep fighting and won a close fight. I honestly don’t have the patience to get into the granular details that make the events separate and distinct. I will say this Golata was being out classed in a relatively competitive fight and he wasn’t known to have the highest level of mental and physical fortitude. Some of Wards strongest traits are closely aligned with being physically and mentally resolute and unyielding. The only alternative in Andrews mind was to aim and deliberately fire a lowblow solely based on his inability to implement other subtle adjustments. He convinced himself that he could not turn the tide or stop Bowes ever increasing confidence and trajectory. I can go on making other points further separating the two events but for some strange reason I doubt you’ll even attempt to tolerate my perspective.
